This is an updated edition of Francis Poulenc 's 1962 work Sonata For Oboe And Piano , edited by Millan Sachania . Featuring the full score and a separate Oboe part, this exclusive edition also includes a download card, giving you instant online access to demonstration and accompaniment tracks. Originally completed in 1962, Poulenc 's Sonata For Oboe And Piano had been brewing in his mind for at least five years. The last of Poulenc 's trio of sonatas for woodwind instruments, he tragically passed away before it could be definitively engraved, leaving behind a work with a number of ambiguous notational marks that resulted in an incomplete first edition, publishedposthumously. A number of revisions have taken place, but this, expertly edited by Millan Sachania , aims to provide a playable, legible, precise and authoritative score that reflect closest Poulenc 's intentions. This new edition revises many minor details, including Piano chords, tied notes, the correction of various bars throughout as well as his crescendos during the third movement. At all points, Sachania has aimed to reproduce an authoritative and accurate score that is at once playable and a reflection of what Poulenc himself may have intended. This is a most exciting prospect considering the reputation that this work has garnered as a piece of profound poignancy. Dedicated to Sergey Prokofiev, it has been said that the mournful final movement, Deploration , is something of an obituary. What makes this edition of Sonata For Clarinet And Piano really special is the unique download card that provides exclusive online access to demonstration and accompaniment audio tracks. Professionally-recorded by renowned oboist Christopher Cowie and pianist Huw Watkins, the demonstration track allows you to hear exactly how the piece as a whole should sound, before the independent Piano-only track lets you take the place of the Oboe in your very own performance. This is a unique opportunity for oboists to learn from an authoritative.

Eberlin wrote some 250 church music works at Salzburg, thus creating a repertoire which later strongly influenced Mozart. This reflective work was inspired by HBO's television series The Tudors in which the pope pronounced an apostolic blessing to the people of Vatican City from the Ubis et Orbis. This solemn work reflects the composer's yearning: gratefulness in retrospect to the year of old, and anticipation at the prospect of the new year.String Orchestra Duration: 6’ Composed: 2014 Published by: Johno Muzik Performance materials available on rental:.

Wagner spent the year 1860 with his wife in Paris. Three concerts with excerpts from his works had been held at the beginning of the year. Still entirely unknown in France, these pieces drew a great deal of attention and polarized the music-loving public. Wagner's main artistic goal at that time was to bring about a first performance of Tristan und Isolde. Although this plan came to naught in Paris, the imperial order to have Tannhauser played raised the tempting prospect of an international dissemination of his earlier works. The year 1860 also finally saw a decisive development in Wagner's struggle for amnesty, which had languished for several years. Wagner was once again allowed to tread on the soil of German states (with the exception of Saxony) for the purpose of performing his works.

“Over the years my orchestral music has become simpler and more expansive. Clouds of Forgetting, Clouds of Unknowing (1991-95) contains four different musical textures. In the White Silence (1998) has three. For Lou Harrison (2002) reduces this to just two. In Dark Waves (2007), I finally got to one. When I first heard that piece I began to wonder if I could sustain a similar sound for a longer span of time. The result is Become Ocean, a meditation on the vast, deep and mysterious tides of existence. The title is borrowed from a mesostic verse that John Cage wrote in honor of Lou Harrison's birthday. Likening Harrison's music to a river in delta, Cage writes: Listening to it we become ocean. Life on this earth first emerged from the sea. And as the polar ice melts and sea level rises, we humans find ourselves facing the prospect that once again we may quite literally become ocean.†John Luther Adams.

Atlantic Odyssey was commissioned by the band program at Oakton High School in Vienna, VA, and its director, Dr. Cheryl Newton. The piece is in two extended movements and seeks to portray an imaginary yacht journey off the eastern seaboard of the USA. The first movement, Sunrise at Sea and the Ocean Awakes, opens with an atmospheric depiction of dawn at sea. Floating woodwinds soar above surging brass until a climax heralds the rising sun. Daylight reveals distant horizons and the prospect of a calm voyage, but the sea is never tamed and a light breeze whips up spray around the boat until a couple of high waves rock the boat alarmingly. But the sea soon calms again and the journey continues serenely. The second movement, Homeward Bound and Spindrift, sees us turn for home, the boat scything calmly through the gentle waves in perfect sailing conditions. But once again conditions change, a stiff breeze tugs at the sails and for a moment we are once again at the mercy of the wind and waves. A moment of calm returns but we are suddenly sprayed by spindrift as a gale picks up. The boat is in danger of overturning but we manage to trim the sail and take advantage of the strong winds to enjoy and exhilarating journey home.
