More than my earlier works, this one is interspersed with metrically bound rhythms and musicianly characters that constantly recrystallize and drift towards or away from familiar situations.The familiar: These are dance-like figures and music-making formulas, but also songs and, in two cases fragments of Bach's music - playfully collected memories of impressions in which - consciously and unconsciously - I am embodied with that collective comfort in whose protection bourgeois thinking and feeling, magically protected, grow up and emerge apart.(It is well known that such security has its fetishes from the childlike to the adult stage: Home, religious bond, holidays, tradition, longing for childhood - the superficiality may have little idea of the depth that opens up underneath. There is also no question that we are still marked by such security even when the contradictions and alienation of existence force us to step out of their protection, to recognize and act upon reality, and to oppose the domination of such inner bonds where their original truth has become the fatal untruth of comfortable illusion, stubbornly and fearfully conjured idyll and reactionary narrow-mindedness.My music feeds on figures in which such memories are encapsulated. It deals with them not much differently than in other pieces with the elements of the traditional musical concept of material, having already always reflected compositionally as a product of sociality and anticipation of musical expression, i.e. it moved into a structurally expanded context and expressively redefined from there.Such an approach aims at overcoming lack of freedom: grasping as part of conceiving, i.e. not philosophical reflection, but rather an artistically gripping reflex by intervening in the physical immediacy of such predetermined elements. These penetrate and infect the structural events, inducing a musicianship that cannot be relied upon; the music jumps onto rhythms like onto moving vehicles, allows for being carried by them until they deform or disintegrate. Written during the winter of 2007, this work is a metaphor of the three stages of a short but intense love story.The first movement is called Poniente. This is the name of a rainy wind that comes from west. In this sense, west is not only the place where the sun sets, but where night begins. The first movement represents the beginning, the happiness and freshness of something new. The violin evokes freshness and spontaneity over the constant rhythm of the guitar, which plays the higher voice. While the violin signs happily, the guitar, instead of being just its accompaniment, plays the role of a counterpoint with its rhythmical and constant theme.The second movement is called Largo-Balada-Largo and it's divided in two different parts. In the first one, guitar plays alone, reflexive and slow, representing the moments of loneliness of the one that waits for the lovers reunion. In the second movement, violin and guitar begin a dialogue where the violin plays a sweet yearning ballad, while the guitar answers as a baroque counterpoint. At the end, calm comes back, as in the first part of the second movement.The third movement is called Danza ritual and it is the most violent of the three parts. It represents the lovers reunion, the resolution of all the controlled excitement. It's the flame that consumes quickly but intensely. At the end of this part, the violin reintroduces the main theme of the first movement, but with a variation, more intense and dramatic. This dramatic and intense quality is also due to the guitar ostinato, which ends in a hysteric trill. This leads us again to the first part, ending the third movement and this work in a sudden setback, as an interrogation tag.

Agitato: This is a movement with a clear romantic intention, as well as passionate. It is like a projection of different colors in an atmosphere of lightness. In this case I probably had Mendelssohn in the back of my mind. Everything in it is extroverted. Vigor and gentleness alternate until reaching the end, where I make a clear allusion to the music of Bach. The movement ends in a fast arpeggio.Capricci o: This part has a humorous touch to it. An evidently burlesque subject matter matches the various rhythmic and harmonic combinations. I do not wish to conceal a similarity of style with the music of Prokofiev. As a reminder, my Sonatina for violin solo comes from an idea taken from this Russian master's Sonata, also for violin solo. The mood is marcato and sharp, alternating expressive moments with others of a mysterious nature. To end up with, a fast and lively coda.Ricordo: It has a burlesque introduction, but this serves as a preamble to the expressive nature of the whole. There are several emotional atmospheres in which harmony plays an essential part. The left hand will be responsible for the melody while the right hand constantly draws semiquavers all in a reflexive mood. In the end, the music fades away gently.Animato: This movement brings us back to the extroverted mood of the Agitato. It transitions from an impressionistic atmosphere at the beginning, to a vigorous and energetic climate. Groups of 4, 5 and 6 notes with semiquavers cause certain instability, controlled, on the other hand, by an unchanging tempo. The movement ends in a forceful marcato, though in an overall maestoso atmosphere.
