Arrangement für Cello und Klavier/ for Cello and Piano-Max Reger's well-known Romance in G major WoO II/10 was written as a supplement for the Neue Musik-Zeitung which was the recipient of works – particularly songs and piano pieces – by Reger in the years 1900 and 1901. Reger himself designated his Romance shortly after its publication as 'an occasional piece of the worst kind – for me!' The work was published in 1910 both in its original scoring for violin (and piano) as well as in its first arrangements for other solo instruments.

for Violoncello and Piano with marked and unmarked string part-The ?Romance sans paroles dédiée Mlle. Lise Christiani? thus described in the surviving autograph was only published as op. 109 from the composer?s estate in 1868. The French cellist Lise Christiani gave several concerts inLeipzig in October 1845 where she met with Mendelssohn and presumably commissioned him to write this charming work. It is the only ?Song without words? that Mendelssohn wrote for two instruments not piano solo. It was previouslyonly available as part of a collection of works for this instrumentation (HN 669). However the ?Romance sans paroles? a favourite with cellists is now also available as a single Henle Urtext edition.

Quelques mois seulement après le parachèvement de sa Sonate pour violoncelle op. 6, Strauss composa une autre œuvre pour cet instrument: une Romance pour violoncelle et orchestre, qui resta non publiée de son vivant. Selon le manuscrit autographe, cette composition fut terminée le 27 juin 1883, et Strauss en réalisa lui-même également la réduction pour piano. Cette Romance passe pour l’une de ses œuvres de jeunesse les plus mûres, mais, malgré quelques exécutions publiques du reste bien accueillies, données par le violoncelliste solo de l’Orchestre de la cour de Munich Hanuš Wihan, alors très renommé, elle resta longtemps dans l’ombre de la Sonate pour violoncelle. Ce n’est qu’après la première publication posthume de l’œuvre en 1986 que cette pièce exclusive et singulière fut redécouverte par les milieux musicaux – et la voici maintenant aussi dans notre édition Henle Urtext très appréciée. / Partitions classique / Cordes / Violoncelle / HENLE VERLAG

Die Trois Pièces de concert verströmen rundum französisches Flair. Simon Laks komponierte sie in seinen frühen Pariser Jahren für den ehemaligen Solocellisten des Königlichen Concertgebouw Orchesters, Gérard Hekking, der seit 1927 am Conservatoire lehrte. Der erste Satz variiert ein raffiniert-schlichtes eigenes Thema und bleibt dabei, trotz aller virtuosen Capricen, immer nonchalant. Der langsame zweite Satz ist eine melancholische Romanze über Blues-Harmonien, und der dritte ein Perpetuum mobile - ein Satztypus, den zur selben Epoche etwa auch Maurice Ravel in seiner Kammermusik ähnlich verwandte.Laks schuf von seiner für Violoncello und Klavier vorgesehen Komposition auch eine Fassung für Violine und Klavier - lange verschollen, wurde sie vor wenigen Jahren für die CD-Einspielung bei eda records rekonstruiert / Violoncelle Et Piano
