Easier Piano Pieces 24-James Hook (1746-1827) showed his musical gifts at an early age playing the harpsichord at the age of four and performing in public at six. He was an immensely prolific composer of entertainment music and these 12 light-hearted and melodic sonatinas are typical of his style.These two-movement works make excellent teaching material. Easier Piano Pieces 73-Anton Diabelli (1781-1858) was an Austrian musician. Best known in his time as a publisher he famously wrote a Waltz theme and in a publicity stunt sent it to 50 leading Austrian composers asking them to write a variation on it. However Beethoven got carried away and wrote a complete set of 33 variations which now bear Diabelli?s name consigning him to the same class of fame as Goldbach. These Seven Sonatinas (Op. 168) were written in 1839 and have remained popular examples of the Sonatina form. They are all in three movements and follow a similar Moderato - Andante - Rondo structure.

Par SIBELIUS JEAN. After preparing his Scenes historiques op. 66 for print in spring 1912, Sibelius had many grand plans but had to turn towards more profitable piano works first, due to his financial situation. Within only one month, he wrote the Three Sonatinas op. 67 in June 1912, which were published by Breitkopf already in November the same year.
