Thea Musgrave: Christmas Carol (Libretto): Opera: Libretto

Two Christmas Carols in Traditional Style were composed in 1966. It sets two poems by the British poet Norman Nicholson (1914-1987): the Carol for the Watchers and the Wise Man'sCarol. They are scored for Solo Soprano optional SATB chorus and Piano or Orchestra. Each carol would make the perfect addition to any carol concert or Christmas service.Thea Musgrave (b. 1928) is aScottish-American composer. Over a career spanning more than 60 years she has established herself as one of the leading contemporary composers on both sides of the Atlantic.

Hear The Voice Of The Bard was commissioned by King’s College Cambridge and first performed on Christmas Eve 2013 at A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols by the Choir of King’s College Cambridge conducted by Stephen Cleobury.Expertly composed by Thea Musgrave Hear The Voice Of The Bard is a setting of the William Blake poem Hear the voice of the Bard (1794).
