This Collection of Chorales harmonized by Bach contains it is believed all those that he arranged for four voices excluding of course the elaborate settings for Chorus and Orchestra. There are also included two for five voices and some to which it has been necessary in order to complete the harmony to add a few small notes representing instrumental parts.

Le 1725 Notebook de Anna Magdalena Bach est principalement célèbre pour les pièces telles que les deux Menuets en sol mineur majeur et G (nos 4 et 5 de la collection actuelle) et l'Aria di Giovannini. Organ Chorales From The Neumeister Collection Yale University Manuscript 'Lm 4708'. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. In 1985 Christoph Wolff, working at Yale University, discovered a collection of 82 chorales compiled by Johann Gottfried Neumeister (1756-1840) which contained 38 compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. They reveal great stylistic variety whose forebears stem from the Northern German organ tradition. Already these early works comprising fantasias, fugues, fughettas and imitative techniques employing motifs from chorale melodies bear witness to Bach' s broad compositional spectrum. This newly published volume is an updated edition of Series IV/9 of the ' New Bach Edition” (NBA), edited by Christoph Wolff and based on this source. In addition to a newly added concordance and corrections to the musical text, it also contains a detailed Foreword by Christoph Wolff with further information on the Neumeister Collection and hymnological details. Urtext edition. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. Bach composed his oratorio for the Feast of the Ascension in Leipzig in 1735. Though this work has the duration of a cantata, the choice of text places it among the oratorios. It combines the biblical account of the Ascension with chorales and free madrigal poems. As in other works which were composed during this same year (e.g. the 'Christmas Oratorio?), Bach reveals a special fondness for colourful orchestration, with two flutes, two oboes, three trumpets, timpani and strings, creating a splendid Baroque sound with a strikingly festive character.
