Andante in E minor to ¾ of a poem by Herrmann Allmers.
Evocation of fog and rainas the likes Brahms. The set
is dominated by the soprano voice, while the bass is
given a continuous accompaniment of triplets. (Claude
Rostand)
English
The gray fog drip so quiet down
on field and forest and heath,
as if the heavens will cry
in oversized sorrow.
The flowers do not bloom more,
The birds are silent in the trees,
it died even the last green,
even as he may well cry.
