Monsignor Lorenzo Perosi (21 December 1872 - 12 October 1956) was the most significant Italian composer of sacred music at the turn of the twentieth century. He had international success in the late 1890s and early 1900s; Nobel prize-winner Romain Rolland praised him; and several popes including Pope St. Pius X befriended him.
