Shawn?s love for music has led him in the direction of a very productive music career. He is described as a talented, well-organized, confident trumpeter who has fine dexterity, a well-controlled tone and a great understanding of style, phrasing and articulation. His classical musicianship is of very high standard as validated by his accomplishments and outstanding record.
Mr. Layne has successfully completed the performance degree in music from the Barbados Community College, and from The Royal Schools of Music in London, the Licentiate Diploma in trumpet performance. His achievements include a scholarship from the National Cultural Foundation (1998), one gold and two silver awards at the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (2001), and awards of music excellence from The St. Michael School (1996 to 2001).
