'Summer Wind', on a poem by William Cullen Bryant
(1794-1878, is from the cycle of four CALENDAR SONGS.
In his poem, Bryant prays that a breeze will come to
provide relief from the "scorching heat," in which the
sultry stillness is broken only by the buzzing of a
restless bee. And then, at long last, his prayer is
answered!
It was arranged for viola and piano at the request of
violist Peter Dutilly.
