The Austrian conductor and composer Franz Xaver
Süssmayr (1766 - 1803) was a pupil of W. A. Mozart. In
his time he was famous for his operas, now nearly
forgotten. The Adagio from his piano sonata SmWV701
here is presented as an arrangement for basset horn and
violoncello.
