Kailimai's Hene is a waltz composed by David
Kalākaua, the last king of Hawai's kingdom. It was
by the way, his favourite song, he often played it at
the court with a ukulele accompagniment. Isobel Strong,
Robert Louis Stevenson's stepdaughter who lived a few
years at Hawaï's court, has narrated how the king
overwhelmed the assembly with this song.
