It is the oldest Christmas carol of the Christian
tradition, whose origin seems to date back to the
fourth century. All the existing musical arrangements
are however later of many centuries. The recurring
title "Jesus refulsit omnium" does not mean anything in
Latin, so it seems preferable to suppress "omnium", or
to refer to the entire initial sentence, which
translates: "Jesus shone as pious Redeemer of all
peoples".
