The National Museum in Prague is preserving a
manuscript (Sig.XLII.A.367), containing arrangements of
4 opera arias for clarinet and 3 basset horns. The
arias are from the opera ‘Falstaff’ by Antonio
Salieri (1750 -1825), first performed in Vienna 1799.
The arrangements were part of the musical collection of
Count Christian Philipp Clam-Gallas (1748 – 1805),
who possessed a noble court in Prague in the 18th
century. We present another arrangement for clarinet
and 3 cellos.
