“Voyages” is a programmatic work for symphony
orchestra inspired by the illustrated story “Voyage:
The Discovery of Hawaii” by Herb Kawainui Kane. Like
the book, “Voyages” tells the story of the
Polynesians leaving their ancestral home in search of a
prosperous new land that would one day be known as
Hawaii.
The piece is comprised of 13 sections, chronologically
moving the story forward from the islands of the South
Pacific to the arrival and settlement of Hawaii. The
