Scored in a lilting three-quarter meter, this delicious melody, by an unknown composer, was originally scored to accompany Edgar Allan Poe's poem of the same name. The story is of the narrator's deep love for a woman who lived by the sea, and whose untimely death is mourned every night by the narrator as he sleeps next to her tomb by the ocean. The beautiful melody, charismatically harmonized, musically depicts that undying love and provides a meaningful opportunity to teach expressive and lyrical performance. A charming addition to the developing band repertoire. (2:15) This title is available in MakeMusic Cloud.

O that we were there! is a text taken from the Christmas hymn In Dulci Jubilo . It expresses a longing to be present at the Incarnation of Christ, but it also conveys alonging to be out of the world of time and space, and in an eternal world. Composed in 2012, in memory of Blossom Barrow, this SATB version was first performed at the memorial service for Annabel Freyberg, mother of Blossom Barrow, at St Mary Abbots, the parish church of Kensington, on 26th February 2014. The performance was given by the choir of St Mary Abbotsconducted by the Director of Music, Professor Mark Uglow.

Even though Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), admittedly, was no fan of the flute, he wrote unforgettable music for this instrument 'that I can't stand': two concertos, a double concerto with harp, the original version of the Wind Concertante and the four flute quartets. Commissioned by the Dutch physician and amateur musician Ferdinand Dejean, Mozart wrote his two solo concertos in 1777/78 during a stay in Mannheim. As the middle movement of the Concerto in G major KV 313 supposedly was too difficult for the client -with regard to the playing technique and/or music - the composer wrote an alternative version, 'Andante' KV 315 (285e). This nice individual movement is now presented in a carefully edited new edition, with a cadenza of the editor - a serenade-like setting that offers the soloist many possibilities for cantabile playing.
