Anton n Dvo ák?was a Czech composer. Following the nationalist example of Bed ich Smetana ?Dvo ák?frequently employed aspects specifically rhythms of the folk music of Moravia and his native Bohemia. Dvo ák?s own style has been described as ?the fullest recreation of a national idiom with that of the symphonic tradition absorbing folk influences and finding effective ways of using them?.The?Piano Concerto?for Piano and Orchestra in G minor Op. 33 was the first of three concertos that the Czech composer completed?it was followed by a Violin concerto and then a Celloconcerto?and the?Piano Concerto?is probably the least known and least performed.This Bosworth edition of the solo Piano part of Dvo ák?s?Piano Concerto?is a perfect addition of an underappreciated piece to any pianists repertoire.

Two volumes entitled Cello Meets Piano edited and published by Árpád Pejtsik were issued many years ago by the Könemann Music Budapest. The first edition was quickly sold out and no further editions followed. EMB has undertaken to issue a new edition entitled Cello & Piano with the content unchanged. The two volumes contain a selection from 200 years of music. Eight Baroque sonatas are included apart from the famous D minor one by Corelli there are some that are appearing in a modern edition for the first time in 300 years. In addition to cyclical works (Haydn: Sonatina Mozart: Divertimento Vivaldi: Concerto)and sets of variations (Beethoven Tartini) there are many shorter pieces as well not only the famous minuets by Boccherini Mozart and Beethoven but also works published for the first time here. Dvorák avait déjà écrit de la musique de soliste pour Hanus Wihan futur dédicataire de son concerto pour violoncelle avant de projeter avec lui et le violoniste Ferdinand Lachner une tournée en trio prévue pour 1892. Dans cette perspective ayant besoin de nouvelles ?uvres pour violoncelle et piano il remania «Le Calme de la forêt» dans une version pour violoncelle et piano pendant la période de Noël 1891. Composée initialement pour piano à quatre mains cette pièce chantante du cycle «De la forêt de Bohème» devint une pièce de concert très populaire grâce aux sonorités du violoncelle. Par la suite Dvorák réalisa un nouvel arrangement du «Calme de la forêt» le muant enune pièce de concert brillante pour violoncelle et orchestre.
