This six-verse hymn is based on the melody Herzlich tut mich verlangen, which Buxtehude used both for the solo cantata Herzlich tut mich verlangen BuxWV 42 and for a chorale prelude entitled Ach Herr, mich armen Sunder BuxWV 178. Apart from the Amen, with coloratura decoration, the text is set in a simple four-part texture. The accompanying violins are used in the prelude and interludes. This piece exists in a tabulatur copied by Duben before June 1687. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3601800.

Venezian version The Laudate pueri was composed between 1735 and 1749 for the Ospedale degl'Incurabili in Venice. Since the Ospedale was an institution for the musical training of gifted girls and young women, the vocal parts are scored for female voices. As Director of Music at the Saxon-Polish Court of Dresden, Hasse was also responsible for church music, and therefore he arranged works which were originally written for the Ospedale.. Now that the Dresden version has already been published in the Hasse-Werk-Ausgabe, the original composition is printed here for the first time. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.4097000.

With the publication of the first collective, scholarly edition of the a cappella works of Sándor Veress (1907-1992), the publishers were paying a long-standing debt in the Veress centenary year. Volume I contains all the already published works for children s, female and male choirs, together with those of the works of his mature period preserved in manuscript which have attained their definitive form: seven choral cycles or suites, and five single-movement works. The musical concept of the mainly 3- or 4-movement Hungarian folksong suites and cantatas is closely akin to that of the composer s instrumental folksong series written at the same time. Also included in thevolume are a musical setting of Sándor Pet fi s poem Orbán and arrangements of two Swiss folksongs and a children s song of American origin (Mary had a little lamb).

At the time of his death in 1760, Christoph Graupner - a contemporary of Bach who supplied the Landgrave residing in Darmstadt with music for five decades from 1709 onwards - left a vast oeuvre which has hardly been explored to date: innumerable instrumental works and a massive body of more than 1400 sacred cantatas. The first volume of the Thematic Catalog of the sacred works has now been published. It contains the cantatas for the festive cycle of Christmas from the 1st Advent Sunday to the 5th Sunday of Epiphany. Extensive incipits of all the cantata movements fill a large part of the book which also includes indexes for, amongst others, chorale melodies and biblical quotations. Score available separately - see item CA.2402900.

Volume II of the collected edition of the choral works of Veress contains seven Hungarian folksong cycles or cantatas, a choral poem in Hungarian and a choral cycle in English. In his first creative period (1929-1939), which he spent in Hungary, Sándor Veress's direct involvement in Hungarian folk music research played a decisive part: his folksong experience gained through personal collecting work found expression in his first period of composition for mixed choir. In the course of the 1960s, after his emigration, he returned on two occasions to the a cappella mixed choir genre: in 1962 he wrote a piece for mixed choir to mark the 60th birthday of the great Hungarian poet GyulaIllyés (Óda Európához - Ode to Europe, based on the poem by Illyés), and in 1967, at the request of the Australian Radio Company, he composed for the 'Adelaide Singers' chamber choir Songs of the Seasons, a seven-movement madrigal cycle making exceptional demands on the performers, to verses by the Australian poet Christopher Brennan (1870-1932).
