Text by Cecil Frances Alexander.
From the CD Christ Is Risen, Truly Risen! (002311), this sublime choral anthem by the late Fr. Chrysogonus Waddell has a brief organ introduction that sets up the first stanza for unison choir and assembly. The second and third verses were conceived for SATB a cappella performance and clearly demonstrate Fr. Chrysogonus’s fresh harmonic language and concise part-writing. A graceful organ interlude prepares us for the grand final verse with soaring descant. .

Father Chrysogonus has compsed music for the responsorial psalms of the Lenten season for all three years of the liturgical cycle. These highly useful, eloquent settings may be sung by cantor with keyboard accompaniment or as four-part choral settings, the verses are quite beautiful a cappella. You'll find these to be very practical and not at all difficult to learn and perform. If you are not familiar with the scope of Father Chrysogonus' work, you must listen to the World Library Publications recording of his compositions and arrangements for the Easter season on Christ is Risen, Truly Risen!.

Contemporary classic by Ed Cash, Kristyn Getty, & Keith Getty This dynamic Easter hymn from the Getty writing group offers a truly impactful Celtic style for the celebration of Christ's resurrection. Joel Raney creatively sets up the opening with a hint of the traditional spiritual 'He Never Said A Mumblin' Word' leading into the opening statement, 'How can it be, the one who died, has borne our sin through sacrifice to conquer every sting of death? Sing, sing hallelujah!' The optional rhythm section and violin part brings it all to life in a lilting 6/8 high-energy presentation! Perfect for Easter or Eastertide.
