Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678 - 1741) is considered one of the most prolific composers in all of classical music. During his lifetime, he composed more than 500 concertos, of which approximately 350 of them were for violin. Four works by Vivaldi were known to have been composed for solo lute, including this Concerto in D Major, F.XII n.15 in three movements: Allegro giusto, Largo, and Allegro.
