The first movement of this work, an Allegretto, begins with a fanfare-like opening. After a number of other melody lines, a reprise of the beginning follows, which ends in a cadenza for the soloist. Movement two, titled Rituel, is characterized by interplay between the soloist and the band within a stately melody. In the final movement, the theme of the first movement's opening returns. As the indication 'alla marcia' of the last movement suggests, this Allegro Giocoso contains march-like music that guarantees a lively conclusion. With Concertino, Kees Schoonenbeek has written an appealing work that is very suitable for a beginner soloist. It is also available for trumpet andpiano.

Ferdinand Kuchler is regarded as one of the great violin teachers of the 20th century, not least because of his violin method. His Concertino in G major Op. 11 still is a popular entry-level piece of concert literature even in today's violin lessons.Apart from the edition in the original instrumentation for violin and piano (SE 1001), this arrangement follows the title 'Concertino' and allows for early playing with string accompaniment - with string quartet and double-bass ad libitum or scored for multiple parts with string orchestra. Further individual orchestral parts are available for download at www.notafina.de. As an alternative to the viola part, a part for a third violin is notated as well. This edition is part of the new Schott Student Edition series which offers varied literature at five different levels of difficulty, from 1 (easy) to 5 (difficult), for instrumental lessons.

Saxophone Concertino is one of a series of solo concerti by Japanese composer, Satoshi Yagisawa. In this piece, the solo saxophonist's voice does not separate from the concert band, but rather develops musically and gently in combination with it. This work enables the soloist to showcase his ability with variety and grace. Saxophone Concertino si aggiunge alla serie di brani per strumento solo e banda firmati del compositore giapponese, quali Trumpet Concerto, Trombone Concerto, Marimba Concerto, Concertino for Solo Percussion and Wind Orchestra, come anche Clarinet Concerto. The effective use of solo percussion, combined with an elegant orchestration, brought a warm reception at the premiere of this work from Satoshi Yagisawa’s ‘Concertino Series’. Yagisawa’s style is usually considered as rather dramatic, however, inthis piece he adds a whole new dimension to his compositional skills.

Composed by Jeanine Rueff, Concertino is dedicated to Marcel Mule. Initially for Alto Saxophone and Chamber Orchestra, these scores are arranged for Alto Saxophone and Piano, and would fit players with advanced skills and ability Written in three distinctive parts: Allegro Molto (tempo 144), Lento (tempo 54) and Vivo (tempo 132). Well composed, quite challenging but very lyrical, this piece is really enjoyable and would be perfect for recitals. The work “Fragments” is an extremely powerful and energetic Concertino for trombone, full of different tonal colours and based on two motifs that are broken down into their fragments and processed further. The slightly playful main motif is presented by the soloist after an imposing introduction and gradually develops jazzy elements without abandoning the contemporary spirit. Throughout the work, the last three notes of the introductory motif are presented both as a short, shrill fragment and as a lyrical theme, which supports the constant alternation between leggero and marcato. An ostinato, which is carried through all registers, gives the work the necessary drift and serves as a common thread to connect the different parts. “Fragments” was commissioned by the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the “De klenge Maarnicher Festival” and was a compulsory piece for the final round of the “1st Michel Becquet International Trombone Competition”.

“Concertino by Eugène Bozza is a piece for C Tuba or Bb Saxhorn and Piano. Written in two parts, this work lasts 17 minutes and is very difficult to execute as a strong endurance and a high level of skill and technique is required. The whole score is in F key with some accidental alterations. Very interesting in term of melody and sonority, this piece definitely shows the full Tuba range at its best and is perfect for contests and recitals. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prize for the Violin, conducting and composition, as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas, chamber works and ballets, among others.&rdquo.
