Piano reduction with solo part-In 1947 Aaron Copland accepted a commission from Benny Goodman ‘The King Of Swing’ for a piece for solo Clarinet and Orchestra. Copland always wary of repeating himself welcomed the challenge of composing a Clarinet concerto – ‘it might stimulate some fresh ideas’. He knew from the start that a bow to jazz was called for and he hoped also to demonstrate the lyrical qualities of the Clarinet. Dedicated to Goodman the Concerto for Clarinet was finished by the end of 1948. Clarinettists were soon welcoming this new virtuoso piece and it has since become a standard in the Orchestral repertoire. The concerto consists of two movements played back-to-back connected by a Clarinet cadenza. The dreamy and melodic first movement is followed by a free rondo dominated by melodic Latin American jazz themes and is resolved in the end with an elaborate coda in C major that finishes off with a Clarinet glissando – or 'smear' in jazz lingo. Originally written for Clarinet and String Orchestra with Harp and Piano in this edition Concerto for Clarinet is arranged for Clarinet with Piano accompaniment by the composer. Along the published version with the changes requested by Benny Goodman ossias from the original 1948 manuscript are included as well. Comes with a separate insert of the Clarinet score.

The piece was written in 1803 and is exceptional for its superb instrumental setting and formal balance. Without exaggeration Kramar's concerto is described as the most performed clarinet concerto in the Czech repertoire. The piano reduction was written by composer Ladislav Simon and the solo part was revised by prof. Jiri Kratochvil. (ed. Jan Racek). Performed by Denitza Lavchieva clarinet Accompaniment: Tempi Concertati Chamber Orchestra Conductor: Nayden Todorov Mozart did not make extensive use of the clarinet until comparatively late in his career but he wrote exquisitely for the instrument and the two scores dedicated to his friend Anton Stadler-the Quintet KV581 and the Concerto KV622-are among his most beautiful works. Both incidentally belong to the final year of his life. The Clarinet Concerto is in the conventional three movements with music that transcends conventionality in its remarkable sense of repose and serenity and what Bernhard Paumgartner has called 'its incredible warmth of tone perfectbalance and unmatched perfection of style.' The concerto had a tremendous resurgence in popularity with the release of the Academy-Award-winning 1985 film Out of Africa of which the piece formed a major element. This deluxe 2-CD set includes the concerto in its original key with printed parts for both A and B-flat clarinets and adds a repitched version for B-flat clarinetists allowing players of that instrument easier execution plus the ability to learn the same fingerings as the composer's intended A clarinet for performance purposes. Includes a high-quality printed music score (featuring both A and B-flat clarinet parts) on ivory paper; a compact disc featuring the complete concerto in digital stereo followed by the concerto performed again but minus you the soloist.

Stamitz: Concerto No. 3 in B Flat for Clarinet-Performed by Keith Dwyer clarinetAccompaniment: Stuttgart Festival OrchestraConductor: Emil KahnNo composer likes to write music without feeling that an artist exists both capable of and willing to playit to good advantage. When Carl Maria von Weber met Heinrich Joseph Baermann one of the greatest clarinetists of the early nineteenth century he delightedly began writing all sorts of work for him including several chamberpieces and the two famous clarinet concerti. In his F-minor Concerto No. 1 it is clear that Weber knew the virtuosity of his player-he makes the soloist range over the entire compass of his instrument and such quiet moments asdo occur are invariably surrounded by runs leaps and passagework of the utmost brilliance. A fantastic concerto. Also in this edition is Carl Stamitz's lovely B-flat-major concerto a most beautiful Classical-era work. Includes aprinted solo part for B-flat clarinet and two compact discs containing a complete version with soloist in digitally remastered stereo; then a second version of the orchestral accompaniment minus the soloist; and a -20%slow-tempo version of the accompaniments for practice purposes.

in B-Dur / Bb Major-German composer Carl Stamitz wrote more than 60 concertos for Violin Viola Viola d'amore Cello Clarinet Basset Horn Flute Bassoon and other instruments. Some of the Clarinet and Viola concertos that Stamitz composed are considered to be among the finest available from the period. Stylistically Stamitz's music is not too far removed from the works of the young Mozart or those of Haydn's middle period. The Clarinet Concerto No. 3 was likely written around 1785 which was the same year that Stamitz was appointed the lead Violin of the Duc de Noailles in Paris. The style of thisconcerto reflects the usual orchestration found in the mid-eighteenth century where most of the important musical material was given to the strings while the winds were left to fill in the harmony. Carl Stamitz's style is pleasant and free-flowing as nicely illustrated in this concerto.

Clarinet Concerto in E flat major op. 1-This edition completes Henle's series of all three Clarinet concertos by the Swedish composer and clarinettist Bernhard Henrik Crusell. Issued in Leipzig in 1811 the Clarinet Concerto In E-FlatMajor Op.1 was Crusell's first published work but had definitely been composed several years prior to this. With its elegant head movement and the simple and moving Adagio it is probably the most“Mozartian” of all of his three concertos although the final rondo is reminiscent of Carl Maria von Weber. The editor and clarinettist Nicolai Pfeffer is now presenting this charming work betweenClassicism and Romanticism on the basis of the first edition. The Piano reduction wonderfully fits the hands and was prepared by Johannes Umbreit on the basis of the original orchestral parts.

Clarinet and Piano-Following the Henle edition of the Grand Concerto In F Minor Op. 5 (HN 1209) the series of Crusell’s Clarinet concertos has been expanded to include the one in B flat major op. 11. The Swedish composer washimself a prominent Clarinet virtuoso and the concertos were tailor-made for himself so to speak. Despite being technically very demanding the Concerto In B Flat Major avoids being overly virtuosic and wins usover with its melodic ingenuity. It is a very welcome addition to the early Romantic repertoire for the Clarinet. The clarinettist Nicolai Pfeffer edited the edition in an exemplary manner consulting the solesurviving source the first edition of 1829. Johannes Umbreit was responsible for the study score which wonderfully fits the hands.

Having won many prizes at the Paris Conservatoire during the 1920s-1930s Eugène Bozza went on to conduct the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and to become Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes. As a major figure on the classical music frontline Bozza's compositions were well-received by audiences particularly those for wind instruments and his Clarinet Concerto is no exception. This Bozza piece for Clarinet is expressive and virtuosic displaying the entire range of the instrument accompanied by an equally virtuosic Piano reduction. The Concerto comprises three movements and is oneof 19 Concertos written by the composer. As music educationalist Paul Griffiths has written of Bozza's compositions 'his works reveal melodic fluency elegance of structure and a consistenly sensitive concern of instrumental capabilities.' Clarinet Concerto is a suitable and significant addition to the advanced clarinetist's repertoire.

The composer and violin virtuoso Johann Stamitz not only established the world-famous Mannheim school in the 18th century but is known among clarinettists above all for presumably being the first to present them with a true solo concerto. Even though Stamitz left it at just this one concerto, it has enjoyed great popularity since its rediscovery in the 20th century and has become a standard work in the concert repertoire. Due to its moderate technical demands, it is ideally suited for music students as a ?first? solo concerto, and as preparation for the more demanding solo parts of Mozart, Weber and Spohr. The newly prepared piano reduction was undertaken with a view to make it easy to play so that also less experienced piano players can undertake the accompaniment of the soloist; a renowned clarinettist, editor Nicolai Pfeffer also contributes suggestions for the cadenzas ? the result is an ideal Urtext edition for student recitals and music schools.

Clarinet Quintet in A major K. 581-Ever since Mozart encountered the Clarinet in Mannheim in 1778 he loved the instrument?s warm and expressive tone. His friendship with Anton Stadler the clarinetist in the Royal-Imperial Court Orchestra in Vienna prompted him to compose not only the Clarinet Concerto (K. 622) but also this ?Quintet of Quintets? which was written two years before his death. Like almost all his works for the Clarinet this Quintet wasprobably intended originally for the Basset Clarinet. However it survives only in two posthumous prints both of which call for a standard Clarinet. These prints form the basis of our edition. As an added bonus the appendixcontains a fragmentary Allegro in Bb major for the same combination of instruments.

The Bohuslav Martinu Complete Edition III/1/5. Par MARTINU BOHUSLAV. “Incarnation” (1956), Bohuslav Martinu’s fourth piano concerto, follows an atypical two-movement structure. It was composed for Martinu’s friend Rudolf Firkušný, who played from a copy of the autograph until 1970, when the composition was first put into print. The next work, “Concerto in B flat major for Piano and Orchestra”, known under the name “Fantasia Concertante”, was to be Martinu’s very last concert work. The concerto in three movements, composed at the request of Swiss pianist Margrit Weber, is quite different from the previous work in terms of its compositional means. In this case, Martinu strongly influenced the edition of the work.
The present volume of the Complete Edition of works by Bohuslav Martinu is based mainly on contemporary copies containing the composer’s own modifications. The edition presents numerous new findings about the genesis of both works./ Recueil / Orchestre

Davies's feeling for the potency and bravura of the clarinet goes back to works of the 1960s; his concerto for the instrument is predictably a big ranging piece in two linked movements. The first fast with a brief slowintroduction has the soloist in propulsive melodic flights slipping over into florid runs but it is a virtuoso piece for the orchestra especially for the marimba and pair of horns. The Adagio that follows is in the spare cold birdcall-riven style of other recent Davies slow movements exploiting first the clarinet's low register and then at its climax the instrument's high extremes. A cadenza leads to the coda where Davies introduces a Scots tune previously hinted at with which he brings the work to an end in F sharp major.Clarinet part with piano reduction of the orchestral score.
