Dan Forrest: Jubilate Deo: Movement 1 from Jubilate Deo: Mixed Choir a Cappella:

This major work is a seven-movement setting of Psalm 100 predominantly in Latin. Inserted within the work are interjections of the text 'Shout to the Lord all ye lands!' in eight different languages. The work may be performed entirely by an SATB choir or some or all of the treble choir options in the treble part may be used along with the SATB choir. Part-dominant rehearsal videos and pronunciation guides for the languages are available for free on the composer's website. There are three different orchestrations of the work available ranging from a large orchestration to a nine-instrument chamber version. This piece was commissioned by the IndianapolisChildren's Chorus to honor its distinguished conductor of 30 years Henry Leck. Dan Forrest's Jubilate Deo brings to life the global aspect of the traditional Psalm 100 by setting it in seven different languages and drawing from a wide spectrum of musical influences. Here movement 4 shifts to Africa setting portions of the text in Zulu and drawing from African vocal and drumming traditions. Works well in the context of the entire work or standing alone.
