“Contemporary Japanese composer, Yuko Uebayashi moved to Paris in 1998. Uebayashi's works have been met with much success in both Japan and France, Beyond Time for 2 Flutes and Piano being no exception. Flautist, Jean Ferrandis described Uebayashi's music as ”“gems that, although they are so different, they yet belong to the same world, a world of vivacity, dreams, tenderness, humour, and one that is subtly contradicted by vehemence, virtuosity, melancholy and sorrow.”“ Beyond Time contains four movements; 1) The distant light of the night, 2) The dancing light, 3) The white light, and 4) The rotating light in the dream. Beyond Time is modern in style, exploiting tonality, rhythm and the ensemble. A typical performance lasts about 18 minutes. Uebayashi's Beyond Time for 2 Flutes and Piano is a sublime addition to the ensemble repertoire.”.

This suite with a four-part instrumentation is comprised of three cheerful, imaginative movements: firstly Yellow Duck Shuffle, a bluesy, swinging section; next comes Purple Panda Polka, a lively, modern polka in which a funny dancing pair of pandas take centre stage; and finally the third movement entitled Pink Donkey Boogie is a gentle boogie-woogie. The musical motifs are played in all four parts giving every instrumentalist a chance to take the lead.

Deze vierstemmige suite bestaat uit drie vrolijke delen die stuk voor stuk tot de verbeelding spreken. De Yellow Duck Shuffle is een swingend, bluesachtig deel waarin het ritmische gekwaak van een jong eendje te horen is. De Purple Panda Polka is een snelle, moderne polka waarin een grappige paarse pandabeer al dansend de hoofdrol speelt. Het derde deel, Pink Donkey Boogie, is een rustige boogiewoogie met als terugkerend motief het herkenbare ‘ia’ van een swingende ezel. In de gehele suite lopen de melodische thema’s door alle vier de stemmen heen, zodat elke partij op haar beurt de boventoon voert.

Diese vierstimmige Suite besteht aus drei fröhlichen, fantasieanregenden Sätzen: Auf den Yellow Duck Shuffle, einen swingender, bluesartigen Satz, folgt die Purple Panda Polka, eine flotte, moderne Polka, in der ein drolliges, tanzendes Panda-Pärchen die Hauptrolle spielt. Der dritte Satz mit dem Titel Pink Donkey Boogie ist ein ruhiger Boogie Woogie. Die musikalischen Themen wechseln durch alle vier Stimmen durch, sodass jede Stimme einmal führen darf.

Brasstown Bald is the highest point in the U. S. state of Georgia standing at 4,784 ft. It is located in the northeastern part of the state and is part of the southern Appalachians. The mountain received its name from the Cherokee word Itse'yi (New Green Place) or (Place of Fresh Green) referring to its grassy, instead of timbered summit. The term Brasstown came from a confusion of Itse'yi with Untsaiyi (brass). The mountain itself is known to the native Cherokee people as Mt. Enotah. The term Bald is common terminology describing mountaintops that have 360-degree unobstructed views. Brasstown Bald Overture was written to depict the beauty and grandeur of the panoramic views from the top of this mountain. The opening fanfare sets the mood for the majesty of the Appalachians. The addition of the woodwinds during the second time through the fanfare portrays the dancing sunlight across the mountain peaks. The middle section is a quaint folk tune to represent the quiet stillness of the night. The fanfare return and a new day breaks forth.
