Par GRIEG EDVARD. La Peer Gynt Suite peut être une composition plus célèbre de Edvard Grieg. Ses mélodies ont insinué eux-mêmes dans notre culture afin qu'ils connaissent aujourd'hui universellement. Les mouvements sont : Morning Song, de Asa la mort, du Anitra danse et In the Hall of the Mountain King. Cette édition présente, pour la première fois, toute la suite dans une version pour les solos de guitare. Il s'agit d'un travail considérable pour le guitariste qui, tout en exigeant la technique solide, est très gratifiant pour le joueur et l'auditoire. Lorsqu?il écrit la superbe pièce en vers Peer Gynt en 1867 Henrik Ibsen la conçoit alors simplement comme un ?poème dramatique? sans penser à d?éventuelles représentations théâtrales de l?œuvre. Ce n?est que quelques années plus tard qu?il adaptera le texte pour la scène. Il s?assure alors la collaboration d?Edvard Grieg qui composa les 23 tableaux de la musique de scène. James Curnow a rassemblé quatre des plus célèbres tableaux de la Suite pour Orchestre n° 1 : Au matin La mort d?Åse Danse d?Anitra et Dans lepalais du Roi de la montagne.
