The brief Fantasia gregoriana, op.65, is based on the Gregorian Easter Hallelujah. Like a mosaic, the individual heterogenic episodes, lyrical, dance-like, hymnal and dramatic in turn, are combined through the permanent presence of the theme into a unified whole. The Gregorian Hallelujah is present as a type of mode in every bar of the work. The subdued introduction, characterised by the tritonically transposed structure of the original material, is followed by a sharply accentuated presentation of the theme in the bass. Over the partially engarlanded resolved variants, a first bitonal climax is reached (F minor and D major simultaneously). The dramatic development is repeated, interspersed with arioso interruptions, until the main idea is brought to culmination in brilliant instrumentation. The final chord consists of all notes of the theme.

For Isang Yun, String Quartet No. 3 from 1959 marked the beginning of his European creative phase and of his official canon of works. Now it is possible to encounter Yun's early works from his Korean period inthe form of his String Quartet No. 1 (1955). Three important 10-minute movements containing references not only to Asia but also to Ravel, Bartók and Eastern European folk music and having an idiosyncraticstructure: Yun lines up forms and figures, makes them emerge from each other in a contrasting manner and assembles them into a mosaic-like whole, seeking for integration, laying down his material in layer upon layer and endingthemovements with a rhythmic unison. […] Even then, he probably regarded a work of art as an energetic stream of sounds and as a reflection of a world whose diverging parts weave into a harmonic whole. (Walter-WolfgangSparrer)

Lent & Easter Musical This new 45-minute, Easter musical from Jack Schrader utilizes three powerful devices to dramatically portray Christ's passion and glory: well-conceived choral music, scintillating orchestral accompaniment, and passionate narrations, with much detail drawn from the gospels. The story begins before the Triumphal Entry of Christ, and ends, by implication, beyond his Ascension. Chorally you will find many poignant and powerful moments. Talented orchestrator, Mark Kellner, has provided exquisite instrumental mosaics to underscore and support both choir and narration. Yet the simple use of piano accompaniment would also be very satisfying. At the most high and holy time of the Christian year, this musical presentation powerfully proclaims the truth of the Gospel, and confronts listener and performer alike with the claims of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The Orchestration contains a Conductor's Score and parts for: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, 3 Trumpets, 2 Horns, 2 Trombones, Tuba, Percussion, Timpani, Harp, Violin 1 & 2, Viola, Cello, Bass, Piano, and Electric Bass.
