Easy Progressive Pieces, Op. 120

For the Easy Concert Pieces series, the experienced piano teacher Monika Twelsiek compiled pleasant, easy piano pieces for beginners and published them in two volumes in progressive order. The third volume is in preparation.The two volumes are intended to complement a piano tutorial method and are particularly suitable for performance at auditions at music schools, for examinations and for competitions. They offer varied repertoire in a broad selection of pieces from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern eras.Volume 1 (ED 22547) can already be used by beginners, containing pieces in the five-note range and easy pieces spanning a single octave. Other criteria for selection are simple rhythms and very easy chords. Crossing the thumb underneath, playing several parts together and pedal use are not yet required.Volume 2 (ED 22548) contains pieces with an extended range of two octaves. Crossing the thumb under, pedal use, simple polyphony and three- or four-part chords all feature here, as do simple ornaments, cantabile playing and differentiating between melody and accompaniment. / Piano

The Opus 210 by Louis Kohler is a delightful collection of 32 pieces ranging from very easy to medium-difficult. Kohler like many of his contemporaries Robert Schumann Peter Tchaikowsky and later Claude Debussy wrotecollections of character pieces for beginning students to play. The pieces in this collection are lighthearted in spirit with simple harmonic progressions and straight- forward rhythms. They can be categorized as characterpieces (short pieces with programmatic titles) which are typical of the Romantic period. Not only do the pieces provide opportunities to stimulate creativity and imagination within each individual player they also provideexcellent oportunities to build technique musicality and rhythmic skills from the very beginning. Kohler proves that one can build technical skills and musicianship skills while at the same time enjoying the music. Thepieces are not overly difficult or lengthy which adds to their charm.

Twenty Easy And Progressive Studies written by Auguste Périer for Clarinet is a method that features 20 pieces for beginners. This well-constructed method was written with increasing difficulty and should enable young players to develop their technique and their sonority. Auguste Périer (1883-1947) is a French clarinettist that worked for the Opera-Comique and who was a professor at the Paris Conservatoire. He was really known to use a clear sound and the vibrato technique. He was dedicated in some musical pieces by Saint-Saens.
