About William Walton Edition
In March 2014 Oxford University Press published the last volume in its magnificent William Walton Edition, the only complete critical edition of a 20th-century British composer's oeuvre. All 24 volumes are handsomely printed and bound. Walton's entire output is now available to scholars and performers in a definitive and fully practical edition, based on the form in which the composer ultimately wished his music to be performed. The general editor, David Lloyd-Jones - the eminent conductor, English music specialist, and founder of Opera North - invited a world-class expert to edit each volume. Carefully researched introductory essays place the works in their historical context and in the composer's oeuvre, and there are full critical notes.

Concerto Cappricioso begins with a short fanfare-like opening. It?s three movements then develop with exciting dialogues between the soloist and the main concert band, which both answers and accompanies the soloist, in addition to adding their own new material. The musical game between the solis and accompaniment will captivate and delight your audience every time.

Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) composed Capriccio Italien, Op. 45, in 1880 following a trip to Rome with his brother, Modest. Originally titled Italian Fantasia, the work incorporates the music he heard from his room and on the streets during Carnivale in a single fantasy, using the orchestra to create a uniquely Tchaikovsky sound portrait. It was first performed on December 18, 1880, by the Russian Musical Society Orchestra, Nikolay Rubinstein conducting, and it has been a mainstay in concert halls since. The Three Pieces for solo clarinet (Fantasia Peruana, Partita Peruana and Capricho No. 12) all represent the Cusqueno sound that Guevara Ochoa popularized in Peruvian classical music. The Fantasia was originally scores for solo trumpet, while the Partita was written for solo flute. The Capricho was composed for solo violin. Because Guevara Ochoa was a violin prodigy, this work may most closely reflect Guevara Ochoa's original musical voice. All three pieces contain the hallmarks of his compositional style - short themes, huayno rhythms and pentatonic scales. I believe the Three Pieces provide contrasting representations of Guevara Ochoa's scoring for solo instruments. Additionally, each work presents its own unique challenges while demonstrating the composer's unique Andean compositional style.
