The Ritual Fire Dance by Manuel da Falla is taken from the ballet El amor brujo (The Bewitched Love) written in 1915. The work was influenced by a traditional dance used to worship the fire-god where the participants involved would jump or leap through fire.Candela, a gypsy girl performs this Ritual Fire Dance causing a ghost to appear. She begins to dance with the ghost whirling faster and faster until the ghost is pulled into the fire, causing it to disappear.This brilliant arrangement of about four and one half minutes is written for advanced performers.

David Shaffer's energetic Fire Dance has been a very popular band piece for many years, and David's new arrangement for the Build-A-Band Series retains all of the fun and excitement of the original but allows it to sound great with very small bands or bands that have instrumentation issues. Includes multiple percussion parts which greatly enhance the piece. As is normal for this series, it includes an optional piano part.

The Build-A-Band Series provides educational and enjoyable music for bands with incomplete or unbalanced instrumentation. Written using just four or five parts (plus percussion), these effective arrangements will work with any combination of brass, woodwind, string and percussion instruments as long as you distribute the parts so that each of the five parts is covered. In 1979, Dan Hartman's disco classic, Relight My Fire, occupied the top slot of the US dance charts for six weeks. In 1993, the song was back at No. 1 reworked and sung by British boyband, Take That. Both of these versions inspired Peter Kleine Schaars in his arrangement of Relight My Fire for concert band. De discohit Relight My Fire van Dan Hartman uit het jaar 1979 stond toentertijd maar liefst zes weken lang in de top van de Amerikaanse hitlijsten. In 1993 lukte het de Britse boyband Take That en zangeres Lulu met hetzelfdenummer een nummer 1 hit te scoren in Groot-Brittannië.
