A fantastic volume of Five Easy Piano Pieces by Bent Lorentzen. Composed on the Ocassion of the NMPU Congress, in Aarhus, in 1971. Much of the music has been notated graphically, and the player is required to hold down block chords of black and white keys, which make this set far from easy and will be an enjoyable challenge for experienced Pianists.

Apart from numerous publications in the field of music education, the music teacher and composer Hermann Regner (1928-2008) contributed considerably to the brass repertoire, such as material for wind orchestra and wind band. Influenced by his studies with Carl Orff, he paid special attention to the fusion of instrumental education and contemporary music. A matter of particular concern for him was to write practical, easily playable new music for children, young people and amateur musicians - music that takes the technical competence of beginners into account and motivates them to concern themselves with new sounds, rhythms and playing techniques. 'All begins well' is a small collection of easy pieces for trombone with piano accompaniment. The five short pieces are a perfect addition to instrument lessons and 'Jugend musiziert'. The pieces are very melodic, using simple keys (F major, B flat major, E flat major) which are easy to play by the trombone, and they cover a compass from B flat to E flat1.

The five pieces in this collection were all originally written for churches/organs on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Nantucket and its landscape have been one of the most prominent themes across my entire musical output. Each of the two sets of sketches can be used on its own as a diptych for concert or service (prelude/postlude.) The first set is extremely easy; the second set moderately easy. Any of the four pieces may be played individually. If all four are used together it is suggested that they be kept in the given order. Old North Musings is a separate, slightly longer work. This series of easy piano music for teaching purposes presents pupils in the lower and lower middle grades with a carefully chosen selection of well-known and lesserknown compositions by important masters. The volumes are deliberately kept small in extent, since it is more stimulating for children to change the teaching material frequently. When the aspiring pianist has dealt successfully with the works of Frederic Chopin for the first time, he will have left the elementary level of instruction behind. The following selection of easy pieces also requires security of technique and capability of musical expression in order to enable the florid sound of Chopin's piano music to unfold. As much as works like the Prelude in D flat major or the Walz in A minor may tempt one to premature endeavours, a study of Chopin's music should not be attempted too early. In the following five Preludes, the two Valses and the Nocturne in G minor (six Mazurkas have been published in a separate folio), the editor has made a selection of pieces, which can be mastered by the pupil (with the exception of opus 28/15 and opus 28/20), even if a limited facility and finger stretch is present. Because of the finger stretch required for some chords, a different distribution of the hands has been indicated or simplifications have been suggested. An introduction to the Tempo rubato, taking style into consideration, is a task lying within teacher's responsibility. Indications for pedal use were added by the editor. This volume offers five-to eight-year old children the opportunity to perform very simple ensemble music for two and three players.
Pieces are arranged in a progressive order and are based on a range of maximum five notes. Using different areas of the keyboard helps to prevent the monotony which may be present in the first stages of the learning process, when young students are confronted with music which often deals with the same notes, those which are simpler to read. Pieces are written in the better-known area of the keyboard: the teacher will first familiarize students with the notes, and then proceed to move their hands to the octave indicated by a black dot at the beginning of each piece, explaining the reason for this artifice.
