This inspiring anthem reminds us that dreams create endless possibilities. An arpeggiated accompaniment, conservative vocal ranges, and a pop-style melody make this easy to learn and a joy to sing. Opens with an optional solo---Dream a dream, plant a seed, hoping someday it will grow.

Beginning with a haunting bell solo to set the mood, Celtic Dreams takes the listener on a musical journey through the British Isles. The piece is original but has all of the signature qualities of Celtic music, from drones and soaring folk-like melodies to the sounds of the Bodran in the percussion parts. A welcome addition to the young band repertoire.

This work draws its inspiration from the Norwegian immigrant experience in Minnesota. Research into immigrant diaries, local histories and Norwegian folk tunes proved fruitful in preparing for the composing of this work. A four note theme is developed melodically and harmonically throughout the work. The Norwegian folk song, How Can You Forget Old Norway?, is set polytonally against a cyclical ostinato constructed from the four note theme.

Flute and guitar duo, along with string quartet, perform three movements based on Sephardic folk songs. The common theme is love just out of reach: the sad hope of finding love, the unrequited love for an older woman, the spurned love of the unfaithful (Searching, rejection, and loss, as Leisner says). The relevant folk songs are stated within each of the pieces - at the beginning of the first, in the middle of the second, at the end of the third, and are used as the base for Leisner's stream-of-conciousness meditations..

Based on material borrowed from two English folk songs that were popular in the Southern Appalachians during the early years of American history---Going to Boston and Soldier, Won't You Marry Me?. After a very peaceful and tranquil opening, a bold, powerful statement leads to a dreamlike, mesmerizing section. With a powerful percussion contribution, the driving conclusion resounds. An epic work, this is a striking addition to symphonic band literature. (4:45).
