Feature four trumpets in this swing-era style work for concert band. Reflect on the 40s, 50s and 60s musically as the trumpets set the stage for grand memories of the big-band sound. The key to the accompaniment is attention to articulation. Highly programmatic.

These four dances are written in a kind of neo renaissance style. Because of the fact that little technical demands are required from its performing artists, these dances are mainly meant for beginning groups, youth ensembles and also for orchestras in all kinds of small strengths. Jan Van der Roost originally had pedagogical intentions with this piece. Myriam Mees arranged Four Old Dances with the same intention for accordion orchestra with electronium and percussion ad libitum. This work for flute trio is in no way connected to the famous work of the same name by Antonio Vivaldi. In his Four Seasons, Mario Valsania sees the changing seasons from a child's point of view: Spring, out in the fresh air on abike ride, the unhurried Summer, Autumn and the new school year, and finally Winter, with its Christmas celebrations...This is a composition in a classical style but with advanced, non-traditional harmonies. The composer's aim was to bring out the full richness of the flute's range and character - such as staccato and double-tonguing. InWinter, various traditional Christmas carols can be heard.

This music may be performed with any sound source (instruments, human voice, any kind of object, generators, etc.) suitable for producing the pitch of one of the four voices with a differentiation required by the piece. The four pitches are to be read in the treble clef, and only in the given register.Ali the sound sources may be modulated electronically. ln case of any kind of modulation the proportion of the modulated/ direct tone has to be selected in such a way that the constancy of the four tones should obvious at every moment of the performance. The sound sources used by the individual performers may also be completely homogeneous (eg. string ensemble), as far aspossible, however, the fewer the number of performers the more they should differ from each other. One performer should use no more than two to three sound sources, and at least one of these should be suitable for performing all four tones Instructions for the performance can be red in the preface of the score.

For cello and piano. “This work was the result of a collaboration with my wonderful friend, the outstanding cellist Julius Berger. Several years ago, his exceptional interpretation of my Concerto for violin and violoncello impressed me deeply. Later, when he played my 2nd Sonata for violoncello solo, a work written for him, my enthusiasm became even greater. In my new piece, composed on the occasion of his 60th birthday, I intended to write kind of music in which not only virtuosity but also a beautiful sound should stand at the forefront. Above all, however, I wanted to please Julius with it and also give enjoyment to the audience. The title 'three times four' describes the basic idea of the work: three musical characters are varied in four different respective forms. Or put the other way round: four characteristic sound designs appear in three different shapes. It is difficult to say more about the piece than that. My ideal is music that is sufficient unto itself, a kind of music that requires no commentary - that itself says so much that all commentary becomes superfluous.†(Krzysztof Meyer).

This successful tutorial book for descant [soprano] recorder is now available in a revised new edition. The German text has been revised in the light of recent spelling reforms and the layout in four colours is now even clearer. For many of the songs harmonic symbols have been added to facilitate accompaniment on the guitar or piano. The first volume places emphasis on correct and musical breathing and tonguing technique. Plenty of space is given to ideas for little improvisations and a selection of well-known songs and pieces encourage motivation and enjoyment as children learn. This child-friendly, practically tested introduction to the recorder is suitable for children from the age of about 5.

The unusual thing about this sentimental four-voice Christmas motet is its character as a choral arrangement: In the middle section the base intones parts of the fourth verse of the song In dulci jubilo, while the three upper voices play around with the melody in small note-values and with this motet's characteristic syncopated rhythm in 3.

Four Motets and a Chorale are choral interpolations drawn from Randall Giles' Latin setting of St. John's Passion. Movements I, II and V have organ accompaniment, primarily derived from the choral parts. Perhaps the best-known of these texts is Crux fidelis--Faithful Cross--which is set as a traditional four-part chorale. In the other four movements, Dr. Giles blends chromatic voice leading and varied meters (often within wide tessituras) to augment the naturally expressive sense of the texts.

Dämonen (Ein Kinderlied) – English: Demons (A Children's Song) – by Arnulf Herrmann is a 21-minute work for orchestra and a record with the children's song Die Blümelein, sie schlafen (The little flowers are sleeping). On it, white noise and historical fragments of this song, preserved in various versions, can be heard. The recording is interwoven with the orchestra, sets the tempo and, not least, provides the timeframe by limiting it to the duration of one record side. But the end is only technical: The needle lifts, but the song is not over.
The premiere took place on 16 October 2022 at the Donaueschinger Musiktage, with the SWR Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bas Wiegers.

The teachers under whom Ãrpád Balázs (b.1937) studied composition - Ferenc Farkas, Aram Khachaturian and Goffredo Petrassi - each independently formed the opinion that with his lyrical gift Ãrpád Balázs's true creative field would be that of choral music and wind ensembles. Their early predictions are borne out by the roughly two hundred and fifty works for choir and almost twenty for wind orchestra that the composer has since produced. It is interesting that in the suite entitled Négy kép (Four pictures) the stylistic features of these two related musical fields are united. In it the wind instruments sing! It was not by chance that the expansive second movement was given thetitle Cantilena, while the slightly livelier but just as lyrical third movement was entitled Arietta. The opening movement of the work is a stridently jolly, energetic Induló (March), but not one of the rigidly military kind: the 6/8 rhythm contributes to its light-hearted character. This music is avowedly akin to the ballet music of Prokofiev. This choice series of four character pieces is crowned by Játék (Play) in which conveying the effect of the mixture of lines moving in parallel and then colliding with each other may be more technically demanding, but is well worth the effort! (Hungaroton HCD 31353).
