This book contains arrangements of piano pieces written by Béla Bartók (1881-1945) in his youth for piano pupils (Ten Easy Piano Pieces, For Children, The First Term at the Piano). Most are arrangements of Hungarian or Slovak folk songs, while the rest are based on the composer's own melodies. The pieces appear in order of difficulty, but even the simplest can be used as effective performance pieces. The album is recommended for the first three years of flute learning, and the first four pieces are playable within the first year. This collection of twelve very easy original pieces was written with the aim of providing players in the earliest stage of their musical development with solo and group performance material. Although very elementary the pieces are composed in a wide variety of styles in order to provide a well-balanced musical diet for the young performer. All of these pieces for young violists in their earliest stages of learning can be performed as solos with piano accompaniment (free download) or in unison with others. Some have an optional 2nd part to enrich the ensemble. Whilst these 12 pieces are written specifically for the viola and address the challenges a beginner violist wouldencounter the last four pieces are also ?key friendly? for beginners on most instruments and are therefore suitable for mixed instrumental groups. These same four pieces appear in books for other instruments in the Debut series. A CD providing stimulating demonstration performances for listening as well as ?minus-one? accompaniments for playing along at home.

Soon showing a talent for piano and composition by the time he was fourteen he was attending the St. Petersburg Conservatoire where he received extensive schooling inpiano harmony composition and conducting. Prokofiev was greatly interested in contemporary composers (Reger dIndy Debussy and Richard Strauss) and quickly made a name for himself with his revolutionary aesthetic language of great harmonic andrhythmic impact. His compositions were inspired by Symbolism and Futurism two artistic movements predominate at the time. Prokofiev attracted attention through his early works – the Etudes Op.2 and the Pieces Op. 3 and 4 – owing to his specialtechnique and percussive treatment of the piano (similar in some respects to Bartok) although he was also capable of rich melodic invention.Actually composed in 1907-08 before his Four Etudes for Piano Op. 2 Prokofiev’s Four Pieces for Piano Op. 3 and 4 were only published in 1911. Concert pieces some show Scriabin’s influence on the composer especially in the titles.

50 Easy Pieces from 5 Centuries. Par . For the Easy Concert Pieces series, the experienced piano teacher Monika Twelsiek compiled pleasant, easy piano pieces for beginners and published them in three volumes in progressive order. The three volumes are intended to complement a piano tutorial method and are particularly suitable for performance at auditions at music schools, for examinations and for competitions. They offer varied repertoire in a broad selection of pieces from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern eras. Volume 1 (ED 22547) can already be used by beginners, containing pieces in the five-note range and easy pieces spanning a single octave. Other criteria for selection are simple rhythms and very easy chords. Crossing the thumb underneath, playing several parts together and pedal use are not yet required. Volume 2 (ED 22548) contains pieces with an extended range of two octaves. Crossing the thumb under, pedal use, simple polyphony and three- or four-part chords all feature here, as do simple ornaments, cantabile playing and differentiating between melody and accompaniment. Volume 3 (ED 22549) is aimed at advanced players who wish to refine their expression and personal interpretation.
