I wrote this Christmas cantata from Koroshegy at the request of the Council of the Komitat Somogy. When I visited the still unrenovated little church at Koroshegy about ten years ago I had no idea that this beautiful Gothic building would one day be the scene of the world premiere of one of my works. - The cantata is founded on four pillars: four organ soli which could be described as ritornelli, followed by four a cappella choruses with the same melody but different harmonizations. These are settings of the four verses of In Epiphaniam by Janus Pannonius, the most renowned Hungarian poet and humanist of the Renaissance. Between these pillars I have introduced movements for choir or for soloists based on Hungarian folk tunes and Christmas songs from Transylvania and the Komitat Somogy: songs of the shepherds, angels and wise men, and, after a pastorale for organ, a large scale mixed-voice chorus intoning Ez karacsony ejszakajan [Holy Night]. A narrator introduces the individual numbers with passages from the Christmas story. An organ postlude concludes the work. (Ferenc Farkas) This work may be performed in German, English, French or Hungarian language. Score and part available separately - see item CA.1037800.

We do not believe that it is any longer possible to claim membership of the holy catholic Church and refuse to sing songs from repertoires other than those of the mission-sending churches in the North. And, if at the same time, the Church does not rehearse and sing new songs, it will breed disciples who are unfit for heaven, where the new song is an eternal feature. —Wild Goose Worship GroupOne Is the Body, like many collections by the Wild Goose Worship Group of the Iona Community, is deliberately eclectic and brings to us music from around the world. Blessed Be God is a lively song of praise from Pakistan, while Je Lourai l'Eternel (I'll Praise God Eternal) is a beautifully simple piece from France. Mexico, El Salvador, Wales, Hawaii, Germany, Brazil, South Africa, Nepal, and the Netherlands are also represented here in texts and tunes. Sizohamba (We Will Walk with God) is a particularly fun and infectious piece from South Africa. With its delightful four-part harmony, it makes a wonderful recessional song in Xhosa or in English. Several new pieces by John Bell are included in this collection, including Keep Me Lord and the title song. John also contributes a wonderful new inclusive text, Women and Men as God Intended, to the popular tune KOMT NU MET ZANG, usually sung with the text What Is This Place..

Noted composer M. Roger Holland has taken antiphons from the 2010 Roman Missal and paired them with psalm verses, creating compositions that have wide use in the liturgy. Some parishes will want to use these pieces on the appointed day for entrance or communion processionals. Others may find use for them throughout the entire year, perhaps using them as a weekly song through the season. The songs work well as stand-alone processional pieces and many choirs will want to use them as choir anthems or congregational songs during the preparation of the gifts and altar. While utilizing official texts of the Roman rite, they can be used by congregations of any denomination. Roger explores the wide breadth that is African American music, you’ll find lyric ballades, spiritualinspired offerings, gospel-style songs, and pieces with a more uptempo feel. We are happy to release the first of four collections.

Mendelssohn's well-known Lieder ohne Worte (Songs without words) have been arranged by Bernd Stegmann for mixed choir and organ. In the process he has set sacred texts to music. The melodies, often vocal in character, and the distinctive accompanying figures are sometimes simple, in one-part adopted from the model; at other times they are in a four to six-part choral setting, sometimes as a dialog of different groups or treated as polyphonic play using the building blocks of the original. Rich color and striking music is combined with profound texts which invite reflection as well as listening. Score available separately - see item CA.9705000.

This second part-volume contains mixed choruses composed by Reger between 1904 and 1914. Most are sacred works, including the great motets op. 110 (Mein Odem ist schwach, Ach Herr, strafe mich nicht!, O Tod, wie bitter bist du), the Acht geistliche Gesange (Eight Sacred Songs) op. 138, and the fragmentary Vater unser. Functional liturgical music is represented with the Easter motet Lasset uns den Herren preisen, the Vier Kirchengesange (Four Church Songs) and the English-language Responsories. With the secular works, the Zwolf Chore aus dem Volksliederbuch (Twelve Choruses from the Volksliederbuch) form a substantial portion, flanked by Reger's setting of Good Night written for a school book, and the Abschiedslied for Fritz Stein.
In January 2008 the Max-Reger-Institut (MRI) in Karlsruhe began publishing a scholarly-critical edition of the works of Reger (RWA). As a Hybrid Edition it is exploring new approaches in editorial techniques. For the first time, in this edition the digital component for this volume will no longer be supplied on a data storage device, but published in an online portal.
