As heard on the composer's recordings, this eerie jazz tune will challenge and thrill the players! Based on a twelve-bar blues progression with a twist, each section takes a solo. Solos are written out or may be improvised. Encourage the players to use special effects, as in another dimension. It's okay for a variety of sounds to emerge!

I met for the first time the refined Finnish composer Kai Nieminen in Milan (Italy), although we had been in touch for a while before. It was that very trip which provided the inspiration for this composition dedicated to Bruno Munari, one of the most renowned XXI century Italian artists, who lived and worked in Milan. In particular, the work that inspired this composition, displayed at Museo del Novecento in Milan and characterised by swirling lines enveloping torn-out music scores, suggested the mysterious atmosphere of this piece and the subheading Un telegramma dal paese dei sogni (A telegram from dreamland). The composition can be divided into four sections and displays a wide variety of harmonics, cleverly enhancing the polyphonic resources of the guitar. The very first bars introduce the main themes of the composition: particularly, at bar 7 it is possible to recognize a Bach quote from Das wohltemperierte Clavier (II book, ndeg24) recurring frequently in the piece and appearing also in the painting. Meno mosso (bar 51) opens with a ghostly song accompanied by drum-like effects that recall the primitive sound of the shamanic Finnish drum. Fast sixteenth cascades dotted by harmonic sounds open the fourth and last section at bar 66 (Capriccioso, movendo), alluding to a mysterious telegram sent from another dimension.

A retelling of the biblical story of Ruth in a rural north-of-England setting, Rosina was Shield's fourth opera, and was a considerable success at its premiere on the last day of December, 1782. Rosina's importance lies in its musical charm, its content (which includes borrowed and original vocal numbers), and in its status as the only English opera of the period for which orchestral parts survive. The full performing material for this opera is available for rental.

Each of these five movements for solo cello uses a different technique to extend the performer's control over various dimensions of the music. The composer writes:
There are five pieces. In the first, second and fifth there are phrase sequences with free pauses between them. There are also notations for just dynamics (sounds free), and for just rhythms (free sounds). The third and fourth pieces are on grids of 6 x 6 and 8 x 8 bars, allowing continuities to be chosen in variously free ways.
The fifth piece, consisting of a series of passages that may be performed in any sequence, may also be played as a cello duo, with the second cellist playing a different sequence.
The Anton of the title is the dedicatee, cellist Anton Lukoszevieze, who gave the world premiere of this suite at St James' Church, Islington, London on September 21, 2018. This performing edition is a facsimile of the composer's autograph manuscript. At moderate tempi, the total duration of the work may be approximately 15 minutes.

This fourth volume of choral music by John Blow completes the publication of his symphony anthems, also contained in volumes VII, L and LXIV, in the Musica Britannica edition. Besides the remaining Chapel Royal anthems, only two of which have previously appeared elsewhere, two occasional works, both hitherto unpublished, are also included.

Both large-scale masses by Robert Fayrfax included in this volume are believed to be late works. O quam glorifica, in particular, was composed in 1511 for his supplication for the degree of Doctor of Music at Oxford, and in it the composer comprehensively explores the possibilities of extended structural planning. A feature of this edition is the restoration of the metrical character of the original, distorted in all surviving copies. Probably predating O quam glorifica, Tecum principium exhibits a simpler form, and is remarkable for the stylistic feature of unprepared dissonant fourths in the final section of the Agnus dei.
