Conscient de l?importance de ce cycle, chaque partita étant constituée de nombreux mouvements, il les fit d?abord imprimer séparément. Composées entre 1726 et 1730 à Leipzig, elles firent ensuite l?objet d?un recueil commun paru en 1731 fièrement numéroté «opus 1». La diversité des formes est sans limites, l?écriture musicale est constamment parcourue du contrepoint le plus raffiné, sans compter le plaisir toujours renouvelé de la virtuosité. Les éditions G. Henle présentent cette ?uvre magistrale dans une édition Urtext révisée qui s?appuie tant sur les éditions originales que sur des sources manuscrites, et documente en détail les nombreuses annotations figurant dans les épreuves ayant appartenu aux membres de l?entourage de Bach. Elle reproduit également les versions ornementées en annexe. En parfaite résonnance avec la démarche de Bach, la Partita n° 3 en la mineur est disponible à la fois dans l?édition complète et dans une édition séparée maniable et peu onéreuse, idéale pour les étudiants des cours supérieurs et pour l?étude personnelle. Très utiles, les doigtés du pianiste William Youn sont remarquablement ergonomiques, et s?ajustent avec précision et sensibilité à la construction du discours musical de Bach. Six Partitas BWV 825-830-Each one of Bach?s Six Partitas features seven great single movements predominantly in the sequence: Präludium - Allemande - Courante - Sarabande - [two free dances] - Gigue. These partitas canjustifiably be described as Bach?s ?ultimate? cycle of suites. As regards the artistic and manual demands it goes far beyond its ?English? (HN 100) and ?French? The New International Edition of Suzuki Piano School Volume 4 includes French German and Spanish translations as well as a newly recorded CD performed by internationally renowned recording artist Seizo Azuma. Unknown until their discovery was announced in 1971 by Péter Várnai in an article in Die Musikforschung, this set of six suites for solo violin, published in 1696, is in all likelihood a second edition of, or second collection to his First Dozen Allemandes, Courantes, Sarabands, and Gigues for Solo Violin without Basso Continuo published in 1682 which are considered lost. Along with his suite for solo violin published in 1683 in Le Mercure Galant, these suites for unaccompanied violin are the first in their medium and undoubtedly served as an inspiration for Bach?s Six Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin.This edition is a modern transcription of Westhoff?s unique notation and provides editorial fingering and bowing suggestions. A facsimile of the only extant 1696 publication, which is housed in the Somogyi Károly Városi és Megyei Könyvtár in Szeged, Hungary, is included in the back of this edition for reference.
