In the Stone Got to Get You into My Life After the Love Has Gone September-Earth Wind & Fire was formed by jazz drummer Maurice White whose aim was to mix various music styles to produce a unique sound. Combined with excellent song writing and fine performances this sound made Earth Wind & Fire one of the most influential soul groups of the seventies. In subsequent decades they experienced varying success but this medley reflects the heyday of this legendary group. In his job as staff arranger with the Royal Marine Band of the Dutch Navy Peter Kleine Schaars wrote many top class arrangements. The talent of the musicians in the band made it possible to write in such a way that they closelyresembled the original works. Consequently this medley shines just like the original versions by Earth Wind & Fire. Four famous songs have been used: 'In the Stone' 'Got to Get You into My Life' 'After the Love Has Gone' and 'September'.

Par SCHOENBERG ARNOLD. ?Friede auf Erden? op. 13 is regarded as Arnold Schoenberg?s last tonal composition and is one of the few choral works of the Second Viennese School. On the same day that he completed his op. 13, Schoenberg made the first sketches for his 2nd String Quartet, a key work in atonal music. Although Schoenberg later orchestrated ?Friede auf Erden?, he intended the piece to be performed unaccompanied.To help rehearsing the work, this choral score contains the piano transcription made by Anton Webern for use in rehearsals for the planned first performance. The text for op. 13 is a secular Christmas poem by Conrad Ferdinand Meyer. At the time of its composition (1907), Schoenberg thought the vision of a ?reine Harmonie unter Menschen? (pure harmony amongst people) described in the poem was conceivable, but he later distanced himself from this idea. The final movement of the Sonata in A major KV 331 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart the Rondo Alla Turca is one of the most famous piano pieces of all time. Once only familiar to musical experts later a universal piece for all piano pupils its opening melody is now even omnipresent as an alienated sinus tone-like mobile phone ring tone. Fazıl Say's arrangement originally created as an effective encore follows on from this popularity. After the first eight bars have been presented in original form typical elements of jazz superimposed on the still recognisable classical foundations can be discovered such as syncopation of the top notes andornamentation through chromatic blue notes embedded in the at times frenzied chains of semiquavers. In the spirit of the work's improvisatory character Say likes to perfom his Alla Turca Jazz in different combinations for example accompanied by jazz singers of with orchestra. It may appear strange that Fazıl Say who was born in Turkey and - when not on tour - is still resident in that country does not bring back Mozart's interpretation of genuine Turkish music closer to its own roots particularly as many of his compositions such as Black Earth or the Violin Sonata are characterised by a subtle amalgamation of the Classical-Romantic tradition Turkish folk music and elements of jazz. In a further Mozart arrangement the ballet music Patara premiered in Vienna in 2006 composed on the basis of the Rococo-like theme from the first movement of the same A-major Sonata (wich enjoys almost as great popularity as the Alla Turca theme) Say utilised the connection which was absent in Alla Turca albeit in the opposite direction. In the ballet music the piano symbolises Western culture and the Ney flute Oriental culture communcated atmosperically by austere percussion instrumentation and soprano vocalisation.

Mozart's penultimate opera The Magic Flute presents an inextricable mixture of the unspoken and sung word high principle and low cunning the refined and the earthy the sublime and the comic for which reasons the rendering of the original German text into English has always been a problem. The present complete translation by the most distinguished translator of opera libretti of our time Andrew Porter magically succeeds in giving us a wonderfully lucid and musical singing text that preserves all the authentic contrasts and yet has imposed on it a unity that derives from Mr Porter's sensibility and acute intelligence.

A scanner records the asteroid andimmediately sends a message to the President of the Anglo-American Union. The probability that the asteroid will hit the earth is judged 50% by the experts. Plans are made to shoot the celestial body with rockets live with hydrogen bombs or laser guns in order to throw it off its track but they fail. The asteroid's size seems to threaten the existence of mankind. Those in the know stare at the night sky in bewilderment. But for the time being there is still peace on earth....

Five wolves climb up to have a closer look at the two grizzly bears they can see from down below. Coyote warns them not to get too close but their curiosity gets the better of them. The wolves look at the bears: the bears look at the wolves. ‘that looks good’ thinks Coyote so he leaves them there. John Duarte was passionate about introducing English musicians to the cultural wealth of their own indigenous folk songs. Using the great collection of folk songs that were ‘run to earth’ in the early 1900’s by Cecil Sharpe and Ralph Vaughan Williams among many others Duarte has made a selection of what he considered beautiful characterful tunes set them for the Guitar student and collected them in Sixteen English Folk Songs.Duarte originally earned a degree in chemistry and worked as an industrial chemist for year before abandoning that life to devote himself to music.
