The words to Humpty Dumpty are the traditional nursery rhyme. The duet is in classic ABA form with a central lament ‘Piu lento e doloroso’ when all the king’s horses and all the king’s men fail so miserably to restore our hero.Twentieth century English composer Herbert Murrill was not only a respected composer but also head of music at the BBC and professor of composition at the Royal Acadmey of Music. Clearly he also had a playful bent as this parody of a Handel duet shows.
