Par IGUDESMAN ALEKSEY. Either of these pieces, for advanced players, would make an exceptionally unusual and entertaining concert item. The writers, Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo, have stunned audiences, critics and fellow musicians worldwide with their combined musicianship and hilarious antics. They have now applied their skills and written these pieces specifically for the competition 'Feast of Duos' but they are equally suitable for any concert performance. Performers are warmly encouraged to ignore or elaborate on the theatrical suggestions provided in favour of any ideas of their own and can perform their creations with good wishes from Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo. Funny, entertaining pieces that are nonetheless finely crafted musical creations in themselves Performance notes and acting cues are provided whilst performers may make changes and find their own interpretation Each piece can stand alone as a concert item/ Recueil / Violon et Piano

At the request of violin pedagogue Pavel Vernikov, Igudesman and Joo have composed performance pieces for the Feast of Duos competition held in August 2014. The two commposer/performers insisted that, along with standard repertoire, all entrants also perform a work that included specific elements: theatricality, spoken word, choreography, improvisation, and humor (i.e.: any Igudesman & Joo concert). This set includes two full performance pieces, including dancing while playing, singing while playing, playing the piano with...well...playing the piano posteriorially, and more, As Far As You Can (by Igudesman) and Beyond the Limit? (by Joo). See an excellent YouTube compilation video of various duos performing Beyond the LImit? at competition.

Igudesman's previous collection Violin & Viola & More was very well received, but there's always that cello player out there who asks, What about me? So now we have Violin & Cello & More, which brings Igudesman's unique vision to the larger stringed instrument. Familiar music from around the world (Auld Lang Syne, Hava Nagila, La cucaracha, etc.) are enhanced with original works in specific styles. His Irish Stew in the Morning is so convincingly Irish, that some swear it's a natural folk melody. (Multiple recordings are already available on YouTube.) Violin & Cello & More is Igudesman's answer to all those cellists who are busily making their own transcriptions of these pieces. Relax! And have fun.

Igudesman's entry in the genre of serious string quartet music is a joyful, exciting three-movement set. The music is driving, rhythmic, absorbed, requiring full focus of all four players. A touring and recording artist on the violin, Igudesman naturally imparts the most beautiful lines to his own instrument, but doesn't neglect the other performers, each of whom has a turn in the spotlight.

For the violin and piano competition in 2013, Feast of Duos, Igudesman and Joo created two performance pieces (Forever Young Key by Joo and When I Was Young by Igudesman) with stage instructions and suggestions. See the young duo Matteo Cematti (violin) and Maxime Trechsel (piano) performing Forever Young Key at Feast of Duos 2014 on YouTube.
