Trish Trash Polka ou Tritsh Tratsh Polka (op. 214) est une polka écrite en 1858 par Johann Strauss II, après qu'il ait effectué une tournée en Russie. Track Clear ~ Laisser passez !-Eduard Strauss the third son of Johann Strauss the Elder was born on March 15 1835 in Vienna. Originally Eduard looked for employment in the diplomatic service but he also studied music theory. He became a harpist in the Strauss orchestra in 1855. In 1862 he joined his two famous brothers Johann Jr. and Josef as a conductor of the family orchestra. Like that of his two brothers his musical output was prolific: he wrote over 320 separate dances and marches. Apart from the exuberant Bahn Frei (Track Clear) which he wrote in 1869 and a handful of other fast polkas (he excelled in this particular dance form) his music is not as well known as that of his brothers.

opus 117-L?Annen-Polka op. 117 de Johann Strauss fils fut présentée en 1852 soit dix ans après la première publique de la Beliebte Annen-Polka op. 137 composée par son père. Le fait que tous deux aient écrit une polka portant le même nom n?est pas un hasard. En effet l?Annenfest (la fête de sainte Anne) était alors la fête d?été la plus populaire de Vienne. Chaque compositeur viennois célèbre ou inconnu a composé une œuvre pour cette occasion. Johann Strauss fils avait 26 ans quand il écrivit cette polka. Il n?était pas en très bons termes avec son père ; une rivalité notoire bouillonnait entre eux. Cependant la création de sa nouvelle œuvre connutun vif succès. Elle fut bissée à plusieurs reprises et louée pour ses motifs très dansants. Dès lors elle triompha sur les scènes du monde entier.

Viennese music has become almost synonymous with Johann Strauss II and his great waltzes. But of course there were other luminaries: his father Johann Strauss I his talented brothers Josef and Eduard as well as their colleagues friends and rivals. This collection includes music by some of these; and apart from waltzes we have polkas (slow and fast) a couple of melodies from operettas and a march. The selection ranges from shorter eminently playable miniatures to a handful of more extended and challenging arrangements. The waltz kings were first and foremost fiddlers. They led their orchestras from the front instrument and bow in hand. As a young man JohannStrauss II used to practise his Violin in a full-length mirror so he would look every inch the part. They knew how to write for the Violin how to make it sing and dance and this helps to make the repertoire a perfect foil to the other volumes in this series. The arrangements in this collection can be performed as solos duets or trios or by larger ensembles. In fact here are all the resources to recreate a Viennese café orchestra! The full range of traditional fiddle repertoire is now at your fingertips! Some of this music is familiar some more exotic but all of it is absolutely authentic faithfully arranged and above all hugely enjoyable. Johann Strauss s?est inspiré d?une citation attribuée à Martin Luther « Qui n'aime point le vin les femmes ni le chant restera sot toute sa vie » (?Wer nicht liebt Wein Weib und Gesang der bleibt ein Narr sein Leben lang?).La version originale de Strauss s?ouvre avec un long passage d?ouverture de près de cent mesures (Quasi religioso suivie d?un Allegro) très rarement joué. Cette transcription pour Orchestre d?Harmonie en est égalementdépourvue mais débute néanmoins avec une introduction brillante (Maestoso) d?où se détache la première ligne mélodique qui revient plus tard dans le quatrième air de valse. Le premier thème représente la quintessence de l?art de vivre viennois ; Strauss s?appuie sur la chanson à boire 'Stoß an stoß an du Liebchen mein' (?Trinquons ma bien-aimée?) extraite de son opérette Wiener Blut (Sang viennois). Les trois airs qui suivent font également preuve de vivacité et d?élégance. Et bien entendu comme dans toutes les autres valses de concert le thème initial revient dans le passage de fin.
