Opera-Poul Ruders' opera Tycho in 3 Acts was premiered May 15 1987 by Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and Kaare Hansen (conductor) at Helsingør Theater in Aarhus Denmark. Libretto in Danish by Henrik Bjelke. Full score: WH31457 Synopsis: In 1597 the famous Danish astronomer and astrologist the nobleman Tycho Brahe flees his castle cum observatory Uraniburg on one of the small islands off the Danish coast. The newly coronated King Christian the Fourth has a grudge against Tycho who in 1572 discovered a new star Stella Nova by using his naked eye only; the telescopewasn’t invented yet. This discovery gained Tycho tremendous fame among his contemporaries within the European scientific circles. The now weakened and embittered old man moves together with his wife Christina whom he raped when she was an adolescent and Jeppe the Dwarf his fool-servant whose life Tycho once saved to the plague-infested city of Prague. There at the Benatky Castle Tycho encounters the main reason for his departure from Denmark: the young German mathematician Johannes Kepler the only scientist among his contemporaries Tycho acknowledges - Tycho is in severe need of intelligent challenge. Which he gets and with a disastrous result for himself. The encouraging encounter with Kepler turns into Tycho's scientific and earthly death verdict. Slowly Tycho realizes that his own conception of the Earth as the indisputable axes of the Universe is shattered by Kepler s theory about Earth encircling the stationary Sun. The ancient picture of the Universe collapses Tycho feels deceived by Kepler who leaves the castle shaken by Tycho's wrath. But they meet again and reunite in a Romanza a Due at Tycho’s death bed. The opera hovers above immense sadness and extreme ridicule - the cast is most peculiar indeed - so in many ways 'TYCHO' may be described at the best as a 'Tragic Operetta'

The vocal score of Choral Symphony by Australian composer Carl Vine. Scored for SATB choir organ and orchestra Carl Vine’s Choral Symphonysets four ancient hymns in exotic languages that have not been spoken for thousands of years: ‘Enuma Elish’ an Akkadian creation myth describing the creation of the world from primeval chaos and three Homeric Hymns  to the Earth the Moon and the Sun (in Greek 'Epic Dialect'). The vocal writing in this 26-minute symphony (Vine’s sixth) is homophonic throughout reflecting the composer’s wish for the workto ‘revel in the power of the human community’. 

Symphonic Mass for SSAATTBB Chorus and String Orchestra-Sunrise Mass is a spiritual extended work by Ola Gjeilo which uses the liturgical Latin text. For SSAATTBB choir with String Orchestra. String orchestra score and parts are also available catalogue # HL08501828The four movements bring us on a metaphysical journey from the heavens to earth from the echo of The Spheres (Kyrie) to Identity & The Ground (Sanctus) with its earthly themes. Neither expressly sacred nor secular this is an exquisite work for advanced high school level and beyond. Duration: ca. 32:00.

Britten's Te Deum In C is arranged for Treble (Soprano) solo SATB choir and Organ accompaniment.In preparing for publication the 1935 orchestral version of Britten's Te Deum in C it became clearthat there were a number of discrepancies between the manuscript and the original 193 vocal score. Some of these were minor: different articulation and dynamic markings something Britten was later very fussy about but perhapsleft unchanged on proof because of his relative inexperience at this stage of his career with the processes of music publishing. Others were more important: wrong pedal notes for example which Britten failed to notice on proof and which have been perpetuated in performances and recordings for nearly seventy years. These have been corrected in the new edition of the vocal score and in the orchestral score (Britten clearly used the published vocal scoreto prepare his orchestral version).The two versions have been made consistent in other details - rehearsal cues and bar numbers for example - since Britten intended choristers to use the vocal score to perform theorchestral version. This would have been an easy task for these is little discrepancy in essential details between versions (a rare departure occurs in bars 53 to 56 where the works 'Lord God of Sabaoth' are unaccompanied in theorchestral version but doubled by Organ in the original). Sustained Organ chords are often filled out with arpeggiated string writing while the spacing of chords is frequently much wider in the string version with melodiestransposed into different octaves.Although harmony in both versions is identical voice leading is sometimes altered in the latter to make it better suited to the idioms of the instruments concerned. So although inessence the two versions are the same the soundworld explored in each is quite distinct. Britten's orchestral version should neither be viewed as an occasional piece nor considered solely a liturgical work like many of his
