What better wish for children - and all of us - this Christmas than Peace on Earth? This fun and poignant new musical from Sheila Wilson (Hosanna Rock!, Scrooge, Rock Around the Flock, The Sel?sh Giant) moves through laughter and tears as it tells the Christmas story with style and wit. All the favourite characters feature, with optional appearances from King Herod and Emperor Caesar Augustus, and even sheep if you have small children and woolly costumes. Everyone's kept in order by a zealous director, whilst the friendly caretaker tidies up the confetti and straw. The play can be shortened or lengthened as required, and is easily adaptable for varying numbers and abilities.The six cool and catchy songs include the funky 'Knock, Knock!', the rocky 'Do the Wise Man's Walk' - and the beautiful 'Peace on Earth'. There are optional Recorder, Glockenspiel and Kazoo instrumentals, as well as Percussion and Sheila's trademark hand-jives. The musical ends with a medley and a heartfelt wish from all the cast (even Herod) for Peace on Earth. This youth movement ‘Fridays for Future’ was inspired by the Swedish student Greta Thunberg and helps everybody to think about the future for us and our children. Young people are important for the future of our music bands too. Wind bands can play a significant part in children’s social and musical lives and are an ideal way to initiate cooperation between primary schools and the local community. Children for a New World is a good way to integrate class bands into local wind bands and provides a unique opportunity to perform in a larger ensemble. Accompanied by a youth or adult band or even both the class band will be at the centre of the performance.In Children for a New World you may recognise fragments from Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 ‘From the New World’. Eugene Rogers Choral Series-Commissioned by Chorus America for the Boston Children's Chorus in memory of the first anniversary of the Boston Bombing. Berry's text describes the uncertainty of the human condition that can be felt in our violent contemporary times and the fear of the world that our children will inherit. In the years since the composition was first written during which an untold number of violent acts have gripped our headlines The Peace of Wild Things has become a memorial against all violence in our society.

Bob Chilcott's Peace Mass was first performed on the 27th June 1998 in Chester Cathedral as part of the Chester International Children's Choral Festival. It was commissioned by Martin Cook and the Chester Music Society Junior Choir. It is a wonderful piece of work to perform and was written for Upper Voice Choir (SSA) Semichorus 2 solo voices and Organ accompaniment.

Aulos to a certain degree continues Orbán's easy piano pieces for children, which he composed for Ágnes Lakos's piano tutor and which Editio Musica Budapest published in a separate volume entitled Enchanted Forest in 2011 (Z. 14742). Yet on this occasion the composer took on something which was both significantly different and more than his earlier pieces for children. On the one hand, he did not compose for beginners but for more advanced students who have studied piano for at least three years. On the other, he did not set developing the technique of piano playing as an aim, rather a systematic presentation of different polyphonic genres and compositional procedures (imitation, fugue, stretto, inversion, augmentation and diminution, double counterpoint, latent polyphony, double and triple fugue, cantus firmus technique, etc.). Orbán introduces his students to the mysteries of polyphony in a direct and practical manner, and thus actually makes them familiar with the art of composition.The educational use of the series is significantly increased by the fact that before each piece the composer presents and clarifies with demonstrative illustrations the polyphonic procedure he introduces. Orbán's explanations are not text-book-like at all, but are deliberately personal and subjective, full of lessons and individual associations taken from his practice as a composer. They were written in the same spirit as the works themselves - while they perfectly fulfil their educational purpose they are equally individual, witty and inspired pieces of music that are a joy to play. / Piano
