As in many of his other works, Handel drew upon earlier compositions of his own for O praise the Lord with one consent. The arias in this anthem are brief and straightforward by comparison with the arias in Handel's Italian operas. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.4091100.

Composed in 1981, IN PRAISE OF ZEPHYRUS was written for oboist Philip West. Richard Wernick later provided this brief program note: “Zephyrus was the god of the west wind. Philip West, of blessed memory, for whom I wrote the piece, was a wind player, an oboist and English horn player of distinction, and a very dear friend. The three movements are in no way programmatic, but reflect to me at least the mercurial and colorful aspects of Phil’s vivid persona.â€.

Written for 3 to 5 octave handbell choir. Level 3-. Sandra Winter's jubilant original piece is as much a delight to ring as it is to hear. A bold, joyous opening gives way to a memorable melody filled with both rising and falling peals, reminiscent of tower bells in a belfry. A brief middle verse gives the melody to the lower treble bells, allowing them their moment in the sun before the entire ensemble resounds once more in effusive celebration. A wonderful addition to any worship, concert, or festival setting.

The Advent cantata Machet die Tore weit has long been one of the most frequently performed of Telemann's sacred works. Among the copies of this cantata which have been handed down is a copy by J. S. Bach which bears testimony to the high respect he paid to his then more celebrated colleague from Hamburg: It is a copy of the score in the hand of the Thomaskantor which was made for a performance in Leipzig on Avent Sunday in 1734 (therefore during the same period as the first performance of Bach's Christmas Oratorio). Of the four solo singers the soprano and bass, each of whom has an aria, are indispensable. The brief alto solos in the opening chorus can be sung by a member of the choir, and the tenor recitative can be sung by the soprano soloist. This work is now available in carus music, the choir app! Score and part available separately - see item CA.3910500.

A thrilling blockbuster of praise for SSAA and TTBB choirs. Except for a very brief contrapuntal “Alleluia†section, the piece moves forward with big block chords, changing dynamics, and tempos to its brilliant, highsweeping, final cadence. A great anthem of praise for developed voices or combined choirs. Wow!
