There is no doubt that the goal of singing each other's liturgical music as an expression of the catholicity of our faith embodied in this volume, does in fact allow bilingual and multicultural parishes through the United States—and beyond—to respond to the liturgical needs of today while opening the door to new possibilities. — Becca Whitla The Hymn Society Journal. Containing themes of divine providence, rescue, and sustenance, this collection comes from the heart of Joncas’s own suffering due to a bout with Guillain-Barré syndrome. After his recovery, Joncas experienced a new surge of musical creativity that gave birth to In the Sight of the Angels. The lush sounds of choral singing and the elaborate instrumentation of brass, harp, flute, organ, and other instruments make In the Sight of the Angels a beautiful recording replete with psalm settings, including “Drink in the Richness of God,†“In the Sight of the Angels,†and “Till the End of My Days.†Also present are settings of the three New Testament Lukan infancy canticles—the “Canticle of Zechariah,†the “Canticle of Mary,†and the “Canticle of Simeon.†But, perhaps most appropriate in light of Joncas’s recent experiences are the songs delineating the work of the Holy Spirit, God’s breath (ruach): “All Who Are Led by the Spirit,†“Lord, Send Out Your Spirit,†and “Veni, Sancte Spiritus.†This tranquil recording has a pastoral feel. It is tender and depicts a merciful God who gives us hope in light of suffering. Joncas’s newfound wisdom resonates through this music. It is his sincere wish that those who sing it, play it, and/or hear it will grow closer to God. CONTENTS: Veni, Sancte Spiritus • Till the End of My Days • All Who are Led by the Spirit • At Jesus' Name • Canticle of Mary • Lord, Send Out Your Spirit •  Psalm 34: Drink in the Richness of God • To the Ends of Earth • Canticle of Zechariah • In the Sight of Angels • Canticle of Simeon.

The service of Compline derives its name from the Latin word completorium meaning “completion.†It is a prayer of quietness and reflection, and is most effective following the completion of one’s daily work. Compline is perhaps the easiest prayer to add to your daily prayer life as it takes place right before bedtime. As Nighttime Falls is an attempt to bring the richness of Compline Prayer to a wider audience. This collection contains one complete compline service for each day of the week. Each prayer lasts about 15–20 minutes and includes an introduction, an examination of conscience, a hymn, psalmody, a scripture reading, a responsory, the Canticle of Simeon, a concluding prayer, and a blessing. Finally, each day concludes with the beautiful antiphon to the Blessed Virgin Mary, “Salve Regina.†As Nighttime Falls can be used to end youth retreats, Marriage Encounter weekends, parish missions, and other evening events. The companion 2-CD set contains seven complete compline services, one for each night of the week. You can pray in solitude just before going to sleep using the recording of As Nighttime Falls. It can also be used in communities when no pastoral musician is available. The enchanting Celtic charm of the hymn selections and psalms in this collection will engage you and draw you into this rich tradition of the church. At the end of each day let As Nighttime Falls offer you a way to give gratitude for the beauty and wonder of God.

Antiphonale Romanum II : The official book of the Roman Church for the celebration of Vespers in Gregorian Chant. Sing Sunday Vespers in Gregorian Chant, and according to the renewed liturgy of Vatican II– it’s now possible. The Antiphonale Romanum II is an eight-hundred-page book printed on bible paper having the usual format of books of Gregorian Chant published by Solesmes. It contains all the elements necessary for singing Sunday Vespers and the Vespers of all the feasts of the year. That means the hymns, the antiphons, the psalms and canticles, the readings, the brief responses, the intercessory prayers and the prayers that conclude the office. At the end of the book is a chapter that explains in detail the rules of chant pertaining to each of these musical forms. The book is laid out according to the Liturgy of the Hours and draws from the patrimony of Gregorian Chant found in the mediaeval manuscripts and later tradition. The melodies offered have been edited in conformity with the critical methods of present-day musicology. They are at the same time so presented that amateur choirs can easily use them. .
