The complete vocal score with Piano accompaniment for Ralph Vaughan Williams? A Sea Symphony. Completed in 1909 it is a vast work inspired by and based on four poems by Walt Whitman that Williams fashioned into a vast score containing some of his finest choral writing and a highlight of its era. It is non-ecclesiastical work and has a humanist agnostic viewpoint with a broad general theme of the Human Soul being a vessel cruising the oceans and seas of life. This suite for Soprano and Baritone Soli SATB chorus and originally Orchestra is a varied work that includes elements of Sea shanties and noble pomp in creating a majestic and evocativerepresentation of the sea.

Quintet in D is in four movements: Allegro moderato; Allegretto Intermezzo; Andantino and; Allegro molto finale. If it only fitfully contains elements of the mature Vaughan Williams it is a delightful work in its own right with playful touches and more than a ration of charm. The writing for piano is very accomplished and shatters the myth much propagated by the composer himself that he lacked technique. It is like anglicised Brahms with a sense of humour notably in the Intermezzo and there is even an allusion to the slow movement of Brahms’ Fourth Symphony in the Andantino. The total duration is about 25 minutes.

This Fantasia is founded on the following traditional English carols: The Truth Sent From Above (Herefordshire) words and tune; Come All You Worthy Gentlemen (Somerset) words and tune; On Christmas Night (Sussex) words and tune; There Is A Fountain (Herefordshire) tune only; together with fragments of other well-known carol tunes. The work is scored for ordinary full Orchestra with Organ and set of bells (ad lib.) or String Orchestra with Organ or Piano. Alternatively it may be accompanied by Organ or Piano alone played from the Vocal score with an optional solo Cello part (H212). A chorus part for performance bysolo Baritone and TTBB is also available (W41). The chorus is required to sing in four different ways:1. Singing the words.2. Singing with closed lips.3. William Lloyd Webber (1914-1982) was a British organist composer and pedagogue. He started playing the organ at an early age becoming a well-known recitalist by the age of 14. He studied with Ralph Vaughan Williams at the Royal College of Music where he himself later taught. His best known work is the orchestral tone poem Aurora but he also wrote many popular Organ works which are now experiencing a resurgence. Four Epilogues was written in 1953 and dedicated to Frederick Geoghegan who at the time was at the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer in Calgary Alberta.

Originally composed for and dedicated to Henry J. Wood on the occasion of his Jubilee in grateful recognition of his services to music by Vaughan Williams. This charming serenade is set to the words from Act five scene one of Shakespeare's The Merchant Of Venice. It may be sung with four soloists - SATB with Chorus or all the solo parts may be sung in chorus.

Described by Walton as the 'greatest symphony since Beethoven' Vaughan Williams's fourth symphony was composed in 1935 and is noted for its abrasively dissonant harmonic language unlike much of the composer's other work. This new scholarly edition edited by David Matthews will replace the existing OUP edition from 1935 and the Eulenburg edition from 1983. The preliminary text will include a preface sources and editorial method and detailed textual notes.
