Sea Sorrow

Infant Joy / Infant Sorrow is a work by Julian Marshall for Tenor Solo and Unaccompanied SATB Choir. A setting of two William Blake poems from 'Songs of Innocence' and 'Songs of Experience' a full performance lasts around 4 and a half minutes. A review in the July/August issue of Choir and Organ magazine stated that Infant Joy / Infant Sorrow 'will please audiences with its 'crisp yet relaxed syncopation'.'

David Murray says 'Still Sorrowing' a lament which is also a homage to Romantic sentiments proved to make the most ingenious use of a 'prepared' piano that I have heard in a long time. While a recurrent plaint tintinnabulates at the top of the piano's range and deep chords resonate at the bottom some muffling device allows intricate figures and rhythms at mid-keyboard to rattle hollowly; a haunting sound-scape and too strikingly musical to seem tricksy.'Financial Times 13 January 1993

His latest work, “Dagda’s Harp”, is influenced by the story of Dagda, the Celtic god of the Earth and evokes the unmistakable sounds of Irish folk music. Dagda possessed a magic harp, on which he is supposed to have played magical sounds, including music of dreaming, music of sorrow and music of joy. En dehors de la collection de ' Manuscrits classique ' composée par Fritz Kreisler (1875-1962) et passer par lui comme les transcriptions des mouvements par les maîtres anciens, le violoniste publié très tôt les oeuvres originales. Kreisler lui-même aimait à jouer les morceaux encore, beaucoup d'adoucissement un concert avec ces morceaux de ' confiserie musicale '. Les plus célèbres miniatures sont sans aucun doute ' D'amour Joy ' et 'L'amour Sorrow', deux ' vieux viennois-airs de danse' dans laquelle Kreisler évoquée par l'atmosphère de la maison de café de sa ville natale avec merveilleuses mélodies et harmonies captivante. Les miniatures sont attachants, animé et accrocheur, mais avec un air élégiaque - mais pleine de charme et d'élégance. Ces pièces magnifique salon sont maintenant disponibles dans un arrangement pour alto et piano par Wolfgang Birtel. / Alto Et Piano
