F minor A major C major-Bärenreiter continues its Urtext edition of the complete Beethoven Piano sonatas. They begin with the frequently played Op.2 Sonatas (Nos. 1-3) (BA10859) which stem from his early yet mature oeuvre when he was developing an independent style from the legacy of Mozart and Haydn. They then proceed to the lyrical D major Sonata Op.28 (BA11814) from his middle period (nicknamed ?Pastorale? by the publisher of the original edition) and finally to the Sonata Op.101 (BA11811) Beethoven?s first sonata specifically intended for the ?hammerklavier? and the one that introduced his esoteric late style to the Piano sonatas. The acclaimedBeethoven specialist Jonathan Del Mar has consulted every known source for these critical Urtext performing editions. In addition he has analysed various copies of the prints published during Beethoven?s lifetime. The results of his accurate research are presented in a meticulously edited musical text at the cutting edge of scholarship together with a detailed Critical Commentary. All volumes stand out in terms of their elegant and well-presented layout. piano reduction for 2 pianos. Par SHCHEDRIN RODION. Shchedrin, son of a composer and music teacher, underwent a thorough musical training in Moscow. His versatility and dazzling competence across a wide variety of musical genres are surely a result of his studies. The composer is also an exceptional pianist and frequently performs his own piano works (concertos, sonatas, 24 preludes and fugues, etc.) on the concert platform.
While employing a variety of modern compositional techniques he has, nevertheless, succeeded in uniting traditional and contemporary forms. His work is suffused with his love for Russian folkmusic, poetry and literature, yet it is not just relevant in his homeland but speaks to a wider audience. His more recent works too, are characterized by this fusion of a deep Slavic sensitivity with outstanding virtuosity./ Répertoire / 2 Pianos

Beethoven wrote 32 sonatas for piano. Volume 1, edited by Stewart Gordon, includes the first 8 sonatas (Op. 2, Nos. 1-3; Op. 7; Op. 10, Nos. 1-3; and Op. 13 [Pathtique]), written between 1795 and 1799. Since these autographs no longer exist, this edition is based on the first editions, published by various Viennese engravers. Dr. Gordon discusses a variety of topics including Beethoven's life; the pianos of his time and their limitations; Beethoven's use of articulation, ornamentation, tempo; and the age-old challenge of attempting to determine the definitive interpretation of Beethoven's music. Valuable performance recommendations, helpful fingering suggestions and ornament realizations are offered in this comprehensive critical body of Beethoven's sonatas. Where performance options are open to interpretation, other editors' conclusions are noted, enabling students and teachers to make informed performance decisions.

Complete Piano Sonatas I-The Piano Sonatas are regarded as the central works of Alexander Scriabin’s compositional output. No other composer after Beethoven reshaped this genre so radically thereby reinvigorating the tradition of the sonata. Scriabin’s desire not simply to continue the existing tradition but to surpass it is evident as early as his first sonatas. These are exciting works from the pianist’s perspective and in their abundance of expression and wealth of imagination. Up to the third sonata Scriabin developed a distinctive feeling for structural coherence and cyclical unity which at the same time revealed poetic qualities.Thisvolume contains the earlier works; sonatas officially published during the composer’s lifetime as No. 1 op. 6 No. 2 (Sonate-Fantaisie) op. 19 and No. 3 op. 23 as well as the sonatas written during his youth in G-sharp minor (1886) and E-flat minor (1887-89). The edition also includes the virtually unknown fragment of a sonata in C-sharp minor (1887) and the reconstructed parts of a sonata in G-sharp minor (1892) never previously published. The editor Christoph Flamm draws on autograph manuscripts first printed editions and on Russian editions of the 1920s. For the first time the recordings of Sonatas nos. 2 and 3 which Scriabin made in 1908 on paper rolls for the Hupfeld company Leipzig are also taken into account.- Urtext edition reflecting the latest scholarship and taking previously unknown sources into account.- Includes all fragmentary works some published for the first time.- Detailed foreword Ger/Eng) and critical commentary (Eng).
