Written in memory of the composer's mother, Will Todd's Songs of Peace is a six-movement work about love and loss. Two of the movements are scored for upper voices. Although it is not a conventional Requiem, it might be appropriate in a memorial context, butshould by no means be confined to it: in many ways it is a very 'life-affirming' work, characterised by ToddÂ’s recognisable jazz-infused harmonic language, memorable melodies, and powerful and personal texts. With the songs Reger wrote between summer 1889 and spring 1901, he made his mark in the music world. His style displayed a harmonic and melodic intransigence which challenged, fascinated, and irritated performers and audiences in equal measure. The song collections which Reger compiled became ever more extensive: opp. 35 and 37 contained six and five songs, opp. 43 and 48 eight and seven, and opp. 51 and 55 twelve and fifteen songs. As well as this, he wrote some individual pieces for inclusion in the Neue Musik-Zeitung (WoO VII/23-29).In his assiduous search for texts, Reger turned to contemporary lyric poetry with its plurality of styles. The poems which he set were by representatives of the literary Jugendstil (art nouveau) and impressionist movements, including Otto Julius Bierbaum, Detlev von Liliencron, and Richard Dehmel. Here, Reger's musical hallmarks were intensity and subtlety of feeling, a desire for intimacy, and a modern emotional language. This corresponded with the concentration on the modern declamatory song following on from Hugo Wolf, to whom op. 51 is dedicated. In addition, Reger ventured to set texts which Richard Strauss had also set previously, in the process finding different solutions in mood and tonal language.
In January 2008 the Max-Reger-Institut (MRI) in Karlsruhe began publishing a scholarly-critical edition of the works of Reger (RWA). This is supported by the Mainz Academy of Sciences and Literature, and as a Hybrid Edition is exploring new approaches in editorial techniques.
For the first time, in this edition the digital component for this volume will no longer be supplied on a data storage device, but published in an online portal.

The Sephardic culture originates from the Jewish population of Spain that was banished at the end of the 15th century and afterwards spread to the whole of the Mediterranean area, the Balkan and North Africa. Its unique Spanish dialect Ladino was preserved, finding musical expression in ballads, lyrical and paraliturgical songs for the most part. The choir conductor and composer Ohad Stolarz took eight of these Sephardic Folk Songs and arranged them as a cappella settings for four-part mixed choir. These arrangements may be performed both as a cycle and individually, being also suitable for non-professional choirs due to their lack of difficulty. The musically and harmonically colorful, partly also exotic pieces therefore present an enrichment for the program of every interculturally interested choir. The informative preface and the translations of the lyrics into German and English enable the content-related engagement with Sephardic culture, too. Includes two player's scores. Niels Rosing-Schow's Ut-Sons (Sea Songs) for Guitar Duo (2016). Commissioned by 'OpenDays Festival' for the guitar duo Per Dybro Sorensen and Michael Norman. Two Shelley Songs were composed in 1981 on a commission from Ithaca College and published by Elkan-Vogel, Inc. in the Ithaca College Choral Series in 1982. The two poems by Shelley used here are To- and The Fugitives. Both of these pieces, published separately, are scored for mixed chorus with piano accompaniment. In order to perform them well, an excellent pianist is essential, for the accompaniment to the second poem The Fugitives is quite difficult, though quite pianistic. The style of the first poem is in a somewhat romantic idiom while the second contrasts it with rather wild harmonic writing utilizing large skips, clusters and other dissonant chordal devices. Great care is taken throughout to make these difficult sounding portions as easy as possible to perform by taking great care of the voice leadings. The two pieces should be done as a pair, but could conceivably be done separately.
