“Songs can be the deepest expressions of the ideas that they contain. Sometimes it’s not enough to just say something.†—Paul Melley In his new collection, Paul Melley courageously examines what the love of God truly means to each of us. The poignant lament “Other Side of Prayer†profoundly expresses Paul’s own struggle with the complexity and paradox of our faith. In “Awoken,†Paul offers an enlightening glimpse at the miracle and sacredness of life. “Fill Us with Your Love†illustrates our joyful response to encountering God’s affection while the thoughtful hope of “New Creation†praises the Maker’s ability to fashion us as lovely, despite our shortcomings. With exquisite grace, “Set Me As a Seal†tenderly extols the beauty found in the sacrament of marriage. Song after song, this music powerfully illustrates the unconditional nature of God’s love, our endeavor to love God in return, and our challenge to love one another as God loves us. The messages contained in God Is Love offer comfort and invite us to enter into a deeper relationship with God, to be filled with the love of Christ Jesus, and to accept God’s call to pour out our love like a libation to the world.

Book 5 of the Sing Out! series features wonderful new choral arrangements of five top pop tunes, all arranged by renowned Vocal Coach and Choral Director extraordinaire Mark De-Lisser. Each song has been beautifully arranged for SAT chorus, the unison harmonies totally reinvigorating these favourite pop songs. From the classic rock anthem of the 1980s in Toto's Africa , to the modern pop heartbreaker All Of Me by John Legend, these are great songs with even greater arrangements. The unabashed positivity of Nico & Vinz's Am I Wrong makes a fantastic counterpart to the optimism in the face of pain represented by the arrangement of the traditional gospel song Take MyHand, Precious Lord , a tune used to wonderfully affecting effect in the recent film 'Selma'. Finally, this fresh pop choral setlist is rounded off nicely with Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud , a beautiful love song in which the power and emotion of the words will enhance the performance. Arranged for SAT (Soprano/Alto/Tenor) Choir, these songs are designed to be sung to backing tracks, but Piano accompaniments and Guitar chord boxes are included for rehearsal purposes, or if you wish to perform with a live band. Aside from De-Lisser's incredible arrangements, this pack includes an innovative and user-friendly download card with performance backing tracks, full demonstrations and individual rehearsal tracks of each Vocal part recorded by members of ACM Gospel Choir. Helpful hints for performing each piece are also included in this book, giving you everything you need to learn these well-loved songs. Mark De-Lisser is a celebrated Vocal Coach and Choral Director, who has been featured on BBC1's 'Last Choir Standing'. His extensive introduction and notes within this songbook bring a personal touch, as De-Lisser really is passionate about getting people singing, improvising and, most of all, enjoying themselves. The new Choral arrangements of these fantastic pop tracks are ideal for spicing up a performance with these.

On warm summer nights, I listen to crickets sing their love songs to God... Penned by American poet Robert Bode, these thoughtful words and the poem from which they are taken inform the title for this book. Bode has long been a sought-after poet, providing deeply moving words for choral and solo music, many of which are included here. This collection of Bode’s lyric poetry displays the poet’s affection for the things of this world, both physical and emotional. “Songs†of morning, evening, nature, love, music, inspiration, and humor lift up and inspire thought. Most notably, the section focused on songs of justice, war, and healing offers many important messages for this time. Robert Bode is the Artistic Director of Choral Arts Northwest, a semi-professional chamber chorus in Seattle. In 2010, Bode and Choral Arts NW received the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence, presented by Chorus America. His poems are performed by choirs and soloists worldwide.

Factory Child is a protest song against child sweatshops. The piece depicts the factory life of children laboring many hours a day and manufacturing the shoes and clothes that end up in American retail stores. Young performers will find this thought-provoking piece an excellent way to use their musical voice to affect change.Factory Child is a protest song against child sweatshops. Written in memory of Mrs. Peterson, who loved children dearly, the piece depicts the factory life of children laboring 16+ hours a day, manufacturing the shoes and clothes that end up in American retail stores.Factory Child begins with factory sounds and an oppressive, repetitive pattern that supports the melody carried by the upper voices. The second section is composed of wistful, dream-like sounds and melodies that have traces of children’s songs that remind us that these children forced into labor would love to have the opportunity to play, attend school, and dream, but cannot and realistically have little hope for a life we consider normal. The middle section gives way to more sounds from the factory. The climax is a raucous circus-like waltz using themes from both sections. The percussion parts can be covered by six players. Some players will need to cover two parts. Use someone from the wind section if you do not have six, as some of the parts, although important, are not very difficult. The second clarinet never goes over the break and the bass line is usually doubled in the euphonium as well as in the low reeds. This piece is an excellent way for young performers to use their musical voice to affect change. It is a great discussion starter for researching where our apparel comes from and why to stay away from some brands. It can also make students aware of the fantastic opportunity they have to attend school that children in other parts of the world do not. Young students will find this piece very thought provoking.Ed Kiefer .

You really must have a copy of Mercy, Mercy! GIA’s new benefit album for church musicians who were victims of the recent hurricanes. You are going to love the selections! We’ve put together a delightful and eclectic mix of tunes and texts coupled with an impressive list of composers, arrangers, and performers who, for the most part, share a common thread. Many of the selections were written or performed by folks who suffered loss during the disaster in the Gulf Coast region. Other pieces have a special musical connection to that area of the country. Ryan Meyers’ home in Mississippi suffered extensive damage as a result of the storm. ValLimar Jansen has numerous relatives who lost everything. The everpopular Dameans all met in the 1960s at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. We included something with a French connection: Théodore Dubois’ (1837–1924) haunting “Adoramus te Christe,†first performed on Good Friday, 1867, in Paris. There are three beloved African American spirituals. And how could we forget Rory Cooney’s arrangement of “O When the Saints Go Marching In There are other great songs here, but you’ll have to listen! This album will touch your heart. Best of all, your purchase will help rebuild the lives of church musicians. Both the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and the National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) have set up funds to help church musicians affected by these tragic storms. The composers represented on this recording have donated their royalties, GIA Publications, Inc., has donated all production costs, KRT Select has donated the cover art for the CD, and CRTCustom Products has donated the manufacturing expenses. 100% of the retail price of this CD will be split evenly between the AGO Hurricane Relief Fund and the NPM Hurricane Assistance Fund.
