Varied articulations, dynamics, and contrasting moods are found throughout this early intermediate solo in C minor. Beginning slowly and mysteriously, it soon becomes clear that a sprite is creating all the mischief. Fun and spirited, the many accidentals and changes in clefs provide excellent reinforcement in note reading and moving around the keyboard. She gained international renown for her first opera l’Amour du Loin and continues a prolific compositionallife with a wide range of international performances.

With Susanni, Arthur has written a cheerful and spritely setting of this old German song that begins with a trumpet-like fanfare. Balulalow is a very gentle and tranquil setting in which the text is shared among all four parts, all of which are at some point the focal point. It uses varied Choral textures to paint the text culminating in the bold homophonic statement ‘Omnis spiritus laudet Dominim!’ (All creatures praise the Lord) before an ecstatic Alleluia.

This lively piece sets the first six verses of Psalm 105 in a song of praise packed with energy and fervour. A dazzling and spirited organ part is present throughout featuring spritely triplet figurations set against long melodic lines in the voices.
